SEND A FRIEND A CARD DAY

Hello blog friends,

Did you know this is 'send a friend a card day'?  I didn't, until I visited the Simon Says Blog and saw this challenge.  As it turns out, the entire month of February is set aside as 'international correspondence writing month'.  

The whole point is to send a card/note/letter to a friend each day of the month.  Who doesn't love to get real mail?  

I make lots of cards and have many to send, so I'm taking the challenge and will do my best to send a card to a friend each day left of this month.  

This is the card I'd like to enter into the SS challenge - it's going to my 3 year old granddaughter.  

My stamp is from Penny Black and is called "Love Sign".  She's colored with Copic Markers.  The sentiment came from "Simply You" by Ali Edwards from Technique Tuesday.  

I'd also like to enter this card is the weekly Wednesday Challenge at Simon Says and this challenge is "Must Be Love".

FEBRUARY 2018 DESIGNER'S CHOICE CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Hello House friends!!!! 

So glad you're here today for the new designer's choice challenge at The House That Stamps Built.    This month it's Shirley's turn to challenge us and her challenge is "A Way With Words".  

I used RI Stamp #10202 "Flower Power Frame", which I stamped with VersaMark on black cs and heat embossed with gold ep to accent my "word".   The flowers were colored with my Derwent Inktense pencils.  The sentiment/word is a partial stamp from RI# 3924-G "Friends Together" and also heat embossed with white ep.  After framing the panel with a die cut frame, I added some white enamel dots along the vine area to bring the white accent together with my sentiment.  When the card was finished I thought it looked like a rich tapestry - not what I had in mind when I started, but a pleasant surprise.

CHICKEN TALK

Hello, Junkies!

I think of all the stamps released this month "Keep Chickens" is my favorite.  Every chicken in this stamp set makes me smile and I have had such a fun time creating with them.  

The chickens were colored with Copic Markers.  I stamped them, colored them and then made some masks of them so I could stiple the background with "scattered straw" Distress Ink through a burlap stencil.  I removed the masks, added some speech bubble dies with the sentiments (also from the set) and cut the panel using a slash frame die.  For a final touch, I added some Wink of Stella clear glitter pen to the chickens and the eggs for a little sparkle.

GUEST DESIGNING FOR CROPSTOP - BIRD CRAZY

Hi there blog friends!!!

Today is a exciting day for me, I've been asked my my crafting friend, Esther Asbury to be a guest designer for CropStop, a fabulous one-stop shopping place for many brands for papercrafters.  

I've had these Bird Crazy stamps from Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous for some time and always love using them.  Their faces are so funny and I love inking them up and creating with them.  

I positioned my chosen birds on my MISTI stamp positioner where I wanted them to be on the panel.  After stamping them with Memento black ink, I colored them with Copic Markers.  Once the coloring was done, I positioned the coordinating die over each bird and die cut them out.  I then trimmed the panel with a stitched border die from My Favorite Things and replaced the birds into the negative space on the panel.  This gives a lot of dimension to the individual birds.  I added a MFT heart balloon die, which was cut out of hot pink card stock multiple times and stacked on top of each other.  For a final touch of dimension I added Glossy Accents to the eyes. The sentiment, hearts and little bouquet are all from the Stampers Anonymous "Things/Talk" from Tim Holtz.

I have created 3 cards to show off some of these new stamps.

First is this beauty, "Something Different".  A stamp that literally stands alone if you'd like it to.  I wanted to give it a bright background so I used Distress Oxide Inks (Salty Ocean and Picked Raspberry) and water on water color paper.  For highlights I used Nova Glitter Marker in silver, which leaves a lovely luminous effect. 

I think of all the sets released this month this one "Keep Chickens" is my favorite.  The faces on these birds crack me up and I smiled the entire time was was creating with them.  (I'll have more cards to post in the future).  I colored these with Copic Markers.

My final card features two stamps, "Why Fit In" (love it) and "Stone Wall".  The giraffe is wearing goggles, which I think is a cute element on this stamp.  My stonewall is multi-layers for texture and effect.  I stamped it twice, colored and inked it with Distress Ink (Pumice Stone) and Copic Markers.  I fussy cut various areas of the "stones" and adhered them haphazardly over the first layer.  I loved the texture it created here.
