Outlawz CAS Challenge Card

Hi there blogging friends,
I'm over at Outlawz with some old and new friends and playing along with some of the great challenges there.  This project is for the Sunday CAS challenge something old, something new and something blue.  I went with a monochromatic look and focused on the "blue".  There are some fabulous projects posted there and great pool of talent at Outlawz.  Do, go over and see for yourself.

Here is my card for the Sunday CAS challenge this week

And the details:  CS is Spring Rain and satin ribbon, background stamp on the side panel was created using Background Basics Retro, and the focal image was made using "Gracious Vases", all products from PTI.  These are new items in my arsenal.  The old piece is the button....its mother of pearl and from an antique button collection my mother had.

Thank you so much for stopping by, keep cool!

JUGS #93

Hi blogger friends!

JUGS (Just Us Girls) is having a color challenge this week and I wanted to play along.  I love the color scheme they found -

I had a difficult time coming up with something "coral".  While I have dp that I could have used, nothing I tried appealed to me.  So I used my Copic Markers to color a stamp and gave it some coral shading.

I used a reverse Nestabilities technique on this card, cutting a circle in the center of the grey panel and then arranging my colored piece in the empty area.  I then cut a frame using two scalloped circle Nestabilities and adhered it to the front of the colored circle.  So while this photo isn't too clear, the card has an extra dimension to the front panel.  I added some pretty coral shaded seam binding and an embellishment from my stash.
The stamps are from the Flourish "Cherry Blossom" set.

Thanks for stopping by - keep cool!  It was a scorcher here today!

Vintage Art

Hi there blogger friends,
I got a membership for Technique Junkies Newsletter a while back and in the June/July 2011 issue there is a technique called "Vintage Art".  I followed the instructions "to the letter" and what a fabulous result I got!  If you're not familiar with this publication, check it out.

Here's my card using the vintage art technique.

The stamp I used is a beauty from "I Brake For Stamps".  The dp is from Basic Grey "Out of Print" 6x6 paper pack.  My card stock is from Gina K Designs Pure Luxury line.  The rose was colored using Copic Markers.
Thanks for stopping by!

A Day in Purgatory

Hello Blogging Buddies!

I'm not posting any  cards here, instead I thought I would show you a few photos of a day we spent at our camp on Purgatory Lake (really, that's it's name) yesterday.  What a glorious day it was!

 A rock with a view

 Camp Vehicles

Where the rubber meets the road

Memories of days like yesterday keep us going during the long winters here in Maine!

Thanks for stopping by - I'll be back tomorrow with a technique card I think you'll like.

Have a wonderful day!

Mix It Up Monday

Hello Blogger Buddies,
By the time most of you read this post, the challenge I'm posting here will be over....I'm getting in right under the wire again.  *sheepish smile*
Nevertheless, here's my entry for the Mix It Up Monday (last week's) challenge over at StampTV.
Lee Murphy's challenge is called:   Gettn' Sketchy and she's given us two variations of one sketch to choose from OR you can incorporate them both.  Here they are:

There are some great entries in the gallery, so check out the StampTV gallery for more great inspiration.

Here's my card for Lee's challenge and as you can see I choose the second sketch to follow.

The stamp is from the new FREE set called "Bold and Beautiful" from Gina K Designs.  I colored the butterfly with Copic Markers #YR24, R85, R89, YG06 and YG13.  I used my Sakura Gelly Roll Clear pen on the wings for some glitzy highlighting, but I don't think the photo shows it well.  The bg is from Basic Grey Sweet Threads and I embossed it using a Sizzix "Retro" emobssing folder.  The CS is all from GKD Pure Luxury line - Ivory, Sweet Mango and the one of her new colors Key Lime.  The butterfly is framed using Spellbinder Nestability dies.

I hope you all have a GREAT week.
Thanks for stopping by,
Cheri
