We have a new challenge for you at The House That Stamps Built and it's a photo/color challenge. Please join us and have some fun with the inspiration.
I created this card with Repeat Impressions Stamps #2902-P "Bass Harbor Light (lg)" and #1904-I "A Special Person" for my husband. Yesterday was his birthday and being a true Mainer (aka "Maniac") he really appreciated this card.
Here is the inspiration challenge piece. You can probably see from my card that I was inspired by the center light and the shades of blue/green. I see the galaxy area in the sky, and I fully intended to use that, but after creating the background, my process took me in another direction, so I went with it.
A while back, I purchased some Dina Wakley Cotton Watercolor Paper to try for watercoloring and other mixed media projects. It's a very thin paper, with a similar "canvas" texture. I don't think it was designed for taking lots of water unless you prime it, so don't do what I did, (if you have, or get some) and put on a lot of water for a wash....go lightly, otherwise it will pill.
I water colored the background with my Koi watercolor paints, then stamped the lighthouse image with Archival Ink and "painted" the image using Inktense Pencils.
Come on over to THE HOUSE and join the challenge! We can't wait to see what you create. If you'd like lots more inspiration to get your motor running, please visit the blogs of these awesome Repeat Impressions Rock Stars -
