I hope you're all keeping warm and aren't a part of this incredible freeze we've been experiencing here in the northeast USA for the past week!!!
I'm not trying to prolong the winter with my card for the ATG challenge at The House That Stamps Built, but I wanted to make a winter birthday card for a guy and was inspired by a walk through the woods on a snowy day.
Did you know the oak leaves are the last to lose their leaves in fall? So that means their steadfastness forces them to endure the snow and whatever else winter weather can throw at them. Sturdy and strong, the leaves are as is the tree is itself.
The process to create this card began with a watercolor wash background on watercolor paper.
The leaf stamp was stamped and off stamped in various directions with a waterproof ink to create the mass of leaves. The sentiment was then stamped in the area of choice in Clair VersaFine Ink "Autumn Leaves". (Love this ink).
Using some white gouache and water and a small paint brush, I splatted it over the panel before mounting it on various panels and finally the card base.
I hope you found some inspiration here today and I hope you'll play along with this challenge as well as all the challenges we've had this month. You can enter each week's challenge all month long.
