Oh, my my, blog friends!    You won't believe these gorgeous vintage bird kits Ali Manning is offering for sale at Vintage Page Designs Etsy Shop.  Ali has amassed a fabulous collection of true vintage images, emphenera and vintage book pages and they are all limited, different and unique.  What a delight to create with Ali's "finds".

Today we're showcasing these fabulous vintage bird kits.  And offering you a challenge to create a project using a bird image.
Your project can take any form - an ATC, card, scrapbook or journal page - you choose. And you can use any media - paper, fabric, stamps, ink, paint etc. Go to town and have fun. Post your creation here by May 31, 2012 and Ali will randomly draw 3 lucky winners, who will all receive this Neutral Seam Binding Collection.  So come join the fun and help Ali celebrate Vintage Page Designs Etsy shop.

Did you ever see vintage bird books in antique stores (or at your grandparents' home)? I wanted to try and re-create one of those books with this image of an Icterine Warbler.  The image, as well as some pages from a bird book came with my kit from Ali's Etsy shop.  I found myself reading all about this unique and rare bird.  I'm a backyard birdder and love this kit - this card is going to dear birdder friend who I know will love it.

Thanks for stopping by and thank you for your lovely comments.

What If? Wednesday Challenge

Wow! What an exciting post this is!  Not only is it time for another What If?  Wednesday challenge from The House That Stamps Built, we're also welcoming two new DT members to our Rock Stars to our group, Kecia and Patti - Welcome ladies!

All the Rock Stars hope you'll join us and play along with this sketch Wendy has given us this week.

Create a card using Wendy's sketch, post it to your blog and then link the blog link to the area here at the House That Stamps Built.   You'll then be entered to win some fabulous rubber from Repeat Impressions.  And remember, If you use an RI stamp, you'll be entered twice

For my card, I stamped the small butterfly # 9009F and paired it with a sentiment found on the same link #9005-E.  I stamped the butterfly on dp from the "Summer Days" 6x6 paper pad by Echo Park.  The cloud paper  came from the same pad.  The bottom panel is embossed with a CB EF in white cs.  I punched some flowers out of scraps, mounted them with glue dots and that was it.

Thank you for stopping by- and I hope you'll play along with us.
Have a happy day!

Repeat Impressions Stamp of the Week

Hi blog friends,

It's time for showing off another fun Stamp of the Week at The House That Stamps Built and this week, we're featuring a really fun stamp #8712-D Floral Peace and this stamp can be yours for 50% off this week only.  All the details can be found at The House That Stamps Built Blog as well as see all the other Rock Stars' cards using this adorable and fun stamp.

Growing up in the 60's this symbol was everywhere - it was fun to make a card using it soooo many years later!

I also added stamp #8711-C which begs to be used with this floral peace stamp.
The bric-a-brac was created by cutting cs with a PTI die and the technique is called "Peek-a-Boo Nesties" from the April/May issue of Technique Junkies Newsletter.
The embossed bg was made using my new Spellbinders M-bossibilities folder.  It matched the flowers in the peace image almost perfectly.  All cs is Gina K Design Pure Luxury.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you'll check out the fabulous stamps at Repeat Impressions and head on over to The House That Stamps Built and play along with our current Designer Choice Challenge - make a card for a woman you love.

Vintage Page Designs Sneak Peek

Hi there blog friends!

This is a very exciting post because I'm here as a new design team member for a fabulous, online, honestly vintage store for crafters, artists and decorators.  Vintage Page Designs -  Ali Manning (you all may remember her as one of the co-founders of Gingersnaps Creations) has a vast and gorgeous collection of fabulous vintage items, such as ephemera, old book pages, maps, sheet music, vintage trim and findings as well as themed kits.

Ali has some outstanding creative ideas and creations for wedding favors as well as other events in her store.  If you like vintage you'll LOVE what Ali is offering.  She shows off some of her products on her blog - you'll want to sign up for regular mailings so you don't miss her fabulous inspirations.

Today, we're sharing a sneek peak of her vintage bird kit, just one of her themed Vintage Page Kits.  Each kit contains 20+ unique vintage elemets - nothing is reproduced or altered.  They're all hand selected and created around a theme to allow the artist to create beautifully coordinated pieces of work.

I hope you'll check out Ali's fabulous store.  Before I became part of her first design team for Vintage Page Designs, I purchased a package of vintage pages and was astounded by the pristine condition as well as Ali's surprise packaging - it's all wrapped to use in your art.

For the month of May the Vintage Page Designs, design team will be showcasing Ali's vintage Bird Kit.  Here's a wall hanging I made for the "Grand Opening".

I purchased some thin wooden hearts from my local craft store and layered them with papers from the vintage bird kit.  After applying Distress Stains, some acrylic paint for highlighting, I stamped silhouette stamps from my collection of rubber stamps for backgrounds for the vintage birds. I sprayed the painted background with Perfect Pearls Mist "Perfect Pearl" for some "pool" reflection.  The gorgeous antique seam binding was included in the kit as was the real butcher twine.  The nest, flowers and fragment embellishments were from my stash.  I didn't post a photo of the back of this wall hanging, but it is covered with vintage pages from this kit too.

Thank you for stopping by.  Please do check out Vintage Page Designs etsy store and discover this vintage treasure chest.
