DESIGNER'S CHOICE CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Hi blog friends!

I hope you all had a blessed Easter and shared some time with family and friends.

It's Wednesday, once again, and time for another challenge at The House That Stamps Built.  Today, it's a Designer's Choice Challenge and the designer challenging us is the incredibly talented Kathy Stacy.  If you haven't seen her creative projects, do yourself a favor and check out her blog.  You won't be disappointed, I promise.

So, Kathy's challenge for us this week is "heat embossing".  Easy and fun!

Here is my card for a little inspiration and to get your going.

For this card I used Repeat Impressions Stamp #1704-P "Great Blue Heron".  This is a beautifully detailed stamp and large enough to fit beautifully on the front of an A2 card front.

I first stamped the image on black cs with Versamark ink then added white embossing powder.  I then centered the embossed image within a Spellbinder die and cut it out.  I had a scrap piece of white cs and backed it but thought it needed some additional color so I used the same die cut and cut out four more using different colors and embedded random pieces inside negative areas around the image.  I drew the "horizon" line with my white gel pen and added "stars" with it too.  I then mounted it to a black card base and voila!  Card done!

I hope you'll join the challenge at The House!  You can get the detail by clicking on the link and once entered, you might win some of these awesome RI stamps!

You're going to love the inspiration by the other Rock Stars.  Take a look!

CLEAN AND SIMPLE OUTLAWZ CHALLENGE

Happy Easter, blog friends!  This is one of my favorite Christian holidays for so many reasons.

There's a new CAS challenge over at Outlawz Challenges and it's a good one hosted by Pryn and here it is:

Name that embellishment!  This week's challenge may require a thinking cap ;)  We challenge you to create a CAS card or project that uses an embellishment and/or image that begins with the first letter of either your first or last name.  For example, if your name is Sue Thompson, you could use a Sequin (S for Sue) or a Turtle stamped image (T for Thompson).  Your choice of first or last name, but you must keep it CAS!

I had such a difficult time with something to fit this challenge - my initials are CW, and I got stuck spinning my wheels with this one.  I decided to use the cross image for the "C" and while only one initial is required for this challenge, I just got some new watercolor paints and wanted to use them, so I got a "W" added too.

My card was created using an older GKD set by Rupa Shrevde (no longer available), and some watercolor paints I recently purchased at Michaels.  (Artist Loft).  I added sequin embellishments whole and some I had cut up into tiny pieces for little shards to scatter around too.

I hope you'll head on over to the Outlawz CAS challenge and play along with us this week.  There are some great prizes to win and Outlawz Challenges has a new challenge every day of the week for lots of fun for crafters.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!!!
