PROJECT OF THE WEEK FOR THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Hi there!  Cheri here with this week's project of the week!

How about making some glass magnets that can be used for fun gift giving or even favors for weddings and birthday parties!  WARNING:  Making these are addicting.

Supplies needed:

  • 1 Inch (or larger) glass gems usually used for vases.  (You can find these at Michael's or other craft stores where they sell floral items.)
  • Glossy Accents by Ranger - it dries clear and strong
  • Assorted stamps, papers and coloring items.
  • A round paper punch - or scissors for cutting images.
  • Round magnets a little smaller than your glass gems.

I started by stamping my image (in this photo RI#2338-C "Happy") onto colored cs and then ran it through an embossing folder to get some texture.  I then added some Wink of Stella glossy sparkle to the eyes and mouth.

On this particular image I did not use the punch.  Instead, I traced the glass gem around the image and trimmed it with my scissors.  Often times the stones are not perfectly symmetrical and tracing and trimming by hand is the best way to get a neat edge.

When ready, add the Glossy Accents to the back side of the glass and press the image into the Glossy Accents and wipe excess from around edges with a wipe or clean damp cloth.  Be careful not to use too much glue...it spreads easily.

When dry, add more Glossy Accents to the magnet and add it to the back side of the glass gem and once that's dry, you have a cute magnet to give away or add to your own home decor.  They are really fun to make!
