RING IN THE NEW YEAR WITH THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Happy New Year, blog friends!!!

Let's raise a toast and celebrate a new year full of good things....health, happiness and prosperity.

I'm excited to be hosting the designer's choice challenge this week at The House That Stamps Built for Repeat Impression Stamps.  My challenge is to "ring in the new year".

My hubby and I share a kiss every year as the new year ticks it's way into our lives...we share this moment in celebration as our love story began on New Year's Eve 2000.

I love these Repeat Impression's bears.  I stamped them on white cs and shaded them with Copic Markers, fussy cut them and mounted them on a panel of dark blue cs that had been stenciled with a snowflake die.  I added some Perfect Pearls to the embossing paste, but you can't really see the sprakle in this photo.  The dies I used were Spellbinder Labels One and Decorative Labels One, as well as a Happy New Year die from Cottage Cutz.

Repeat Impressions Stamp #1015-L "Polar Bear Kisses" .

I hope you'll take my challenge and help us all at The House Ring in the New Year!

Wishing each of you a very Happy New Year full of love, happiness and good health.

CAS ANGELS CHALLENGE AT OUTLAWZ CHALLENGES

Greetings, blog friends!

Today on the Clean and Simple challenge at Outlawz Challenges there's a new challenge by Cara.  Here is her challenge:

December is my favorite time of year ... I love the lights and the music and all the fun decorations for the Holiday season! It's also my birthday this month and as long as I can remember, my mother has given me Angels for my birthday. They are a sweet reminder that I was born during a very special time and they truly fascinate me on every level. I love them and have them all over my house, even when it is not Christmastime. This week your challenge is to create a card or project with an angel - or angel wings.
Just remember - have fun and keep it clean and simple!

My card was created in memory of my mother who recently passed away from Alzheimer's Disease.  She was my angel.

The background for this card was stenciled using a new Stencil by Memory Box called "Winter Tiny Snowflakes" I recently purchased from Beverly at Classy Cards N Such (and right now she's having an awesome sale).  I stenciled the snowflakes on a layer of Papertrey Ink "Spring Rain".  The sentiment came from an older Flourishes stamp set and the white feathers were purchased at Michaels.

We hope you'll join the challenge this week.
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

DESIGNER'S CHOICE CHALLENGE AT REPEAT IMPRESSIONS STAMPS

Hi blog friends...it's been a difficult week.  My sweet mother passed away last Tuesday from a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.  I'm praying for any of you who might also be dealing with this disease.

A new designer's choice challenge is up and running at The House That Stamps Built.  This week it's Melissa's turn and her challenge is a one word challenge, "SNOW".

It's the holiday season and we all know that, so this is a super simple challenge and I think you can all have fun with it, regardless of the hemisphere you live in.

Here in Maine, snow is a part of our lives and what many look forward to for many reasons.  I love snow.  I don't know why exactly, but I love the smell of the first snowfall and I love the recreation part of snow.  Snowshoeing, cross country skiing, alpine skiing, ice skating, sledding.....on and on.  I love getting out and playing in the snow.

RI Stamps used on this card:  #8812-J Knit Cap Penguin Lg and 8805-K Snowflakes.

CAS WHITE CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE AT OUTLAWZ CHALLENGES

Greetings blog friends,

I hope you all have had a great week!

Just a note, before I begin...it's Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day....my father was just 20 years old and there December 7, 1941.  He was haunted by the horrors of it his entire life.  I will always be grateful to him and all those vets of WWII (and since then) for stepping up and protecting us and preserving the freedoms we so enjoy.

Today, over at Outlawz Challenges there's a new clean and simple challenge and I hope you'll have a chance to join in.

"I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" - It's a classic Christmas song by Bing Crosby. This week let's make a clean and simple Christmas/winter card all white. You may use black or brown for a sentiment, otherwise everything else must be white.

That song came out during WWII and was quite an inspirational song during Christmas for the troops and their families.

I created this card for the challenge.

Easy peesy...with a Cheery Lynn O Tannembaum Christmas tree die, a snowfall embossing folder and a spellbinder oval die for the stamped sentiment.  I used an Ice White Viva Decor Pearl Pen to create little pearl embellishments on the "tree".

Come on over to the Outlawz Challenges and play along with the new CAS challenge.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a great week!

Hi blog friends!

It's designer's choice challenge once again at The House That Stamps Built and this week it's Deonna's turn to bring on the challenge and it's "Anything But a Card".

I love these little books and have a ton of fun making them.

The RI Stamps I used for the album are:

#2708-M - Pine Branch
#2719-K Lg Pine Tree
#2709-I Lg Pine Forest
#2714-D Sm Pine Forest
#307-D-Holly Sprig

#2112-D "Sleigh Ride Silhouette"
#424-G "Wishing You a Season"
#6006-M "Forest Positive
#8805-K "Snowflakes"

PROJECT OF THE WEEK AT REPEAT IMPRESSIONS

Hi, everyone!

Cheri here with a new Project of the Week for Repeat Impressions and The House That Stamps Built blog.

While my project may look like it's a lot of work, it's not.  It does take some detail time but it's so worth it when you're done with this project.

The background image was created using a technique emulating an aged vintage painting and that's easy by using Distress Inks (Scattered Straw, Wild Honey and Walnut Stain.  I also pulled out Gathered Twigs, but I decided not to use it)

Here is a list of supplies you'll need to create a card like the one above.

Take one 8.5x11 sheet of white card stock.  Cut it to 4.25x5.5" on the 8.5" side and then cut the other 4.25x.5.5" in half at 5.5".   You should have one 4.25x11" piece and two 4.25x5.5" pieces.  Score the 4.5X11" piece at 5.5" but don't fold it yet.  Also needed and not shown is a 4.25x5.5" piece of heatable vellum paper. The dies I used are Spellbinder Label Eight dies the 4th and 5th size.

1.  Place one of the 4.25x5.5" pieces of cs on your work surface with one of the shorter edges closest to you.  With a sponge begin lightly sponging the DI Scattered Straw to half of the cs diagonally.
2.  Turn the cs, ink up a second sponge with Wild Honey and lightly sponge that ink diagonally to the Scattered Straw inked edge.
3.  Ink up the Scattered Straw sponge once again and apply the ink across the center area where the inks intersect to smooth the lines and blend the inks.
4.  Using Walnut Stain DI, ink up RI Stamp #3308-M "The Pastor's House" and stamp it in the center of your prepared inked cs.

5.  Using the smaller of the two dies, center and cut out your image.

6.  With Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamp your second image RI Stamp #2002-J "Holiday Lamp Post"  to about 3/4" from the edge of the right side of your piece of heatable vellum.  Once the ink is dry (it doesn't take long) begin coloring it on the wrong side, with your choice of coloring tools.  I used Copic Markers.  Once you've colored it on the wrong side to your satisfaction, you can turn it over and touch up the color from the right side of the image.  For my image I also used a white Wink of Stella glitter pen, but you can use any white pen of your choice to enhance the "snow" on the lamp.
7.  Using the larger of the dies, cut the vellum piece making sure the edge of the die is where you want the lamp image to appear on your background image.
8.  Using the same two dies, cut a "frame" out of a scrap piece of cs.
9.  Centering the smaller of the dies on your card base layer, about 1/4" from the fold, cut a "window".
10.  Taking the second piece of 4.25x5.5" piece of cs, cover one side with double sided adhesive. I used my ATG gun.

11.  Adhere this piece to the back side of your base layer.
12.  Adhere your focal image inside the window and onto the double tape.
13.  Adhere your vellum piece to the frame using a wet glue.  Then adhere the entire piece to the front of your vintage image.  Add a sentiment, if you'd like to, then fold your card and you're done.

There are many ideas you can use adapting this card technique.  I hope you try this and if you do, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks for stopping by.  If you have questions, please remember to leave me an email address so I can get back to you.

WHAT IF? WEDNESDAY AT THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Hi blog friends!!!

We are bracing for a winter storm headed our way of over a foot of snow.  Yikes! Yet we can feel lucky we won't be getting the 7 feet of snow that western New York State got two weeks ago!  I usually hibernate in my craft room during snow storms. It'll be a good opportunity to make some Christmas cards.

Today we are bringing you another WIW sketch challenge from Wendy at Repeat Impressions Stamps and The House That Stamps Built blog.

We hope you'll come on over to The House, get the details and join the challenge and have some fun with Wendy's sketch.

When I first saw that sketch, I went right to my RI snowmen stamps and thought about snow....I had NO idea it would be posted in the middle of a big snowstorm...I must have ESP!!!

The RI Stamps I used for this card are #2003-G "Twig Hair Snowman", #2006-H "Let It Snow", and #8805-K "Snowflakes".  What a fun sketch this was to play with!

CAS CHALLENGE AT OUTLAWZ CHALLENGES

Hi blog friends!!!

Did you happen to see the awesome 20% Thanksgiving Offer for Repeat Impressions Stamps on the right side of my sidebar????  This is an incredible offer.  I hope you don't miss it!

There's a new CAS challenge over at the Outlawz Challenges.   "Bling It On" is hosted by the super talented Lynn Cupido.

Here's a card I created for Lynn's challenge.

I made this so simply.  The die is Corner Bow by Memory Box and the sentiment stamp is from the new Essentials line by Ellen Hutson and Julie Embersole "Brushstroke Christmas".  (I love this set).  With a pencil eraser I stamped some Delicata "Slivery Shimmer" to create the bg.  The "gift" is a 3x3 piece of cs embossed with the Cuddle Bug folder "Candy Cane".  I heat embossed the sentiment with "Liquid Platinum" embossing powder by Ranger.

Come on over and play along with the CAS Challenge at Outlawz Challenges.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

REPEAT IMPRESSIONS DESIGNER'S CHOICE CHALLENGE

Happy Wednesday, blog friends!!!

Here we are with another exciting DCC at The House That Stamps Built blog and this week the incredibly talented Rock Star, Geri Utterback has created an inspiration challenge for us.

Get your supplies together and join us in this challenge, won't you?  We can't wait to see what you do with this fabulous inspiration idea.  Get all the details for entering the challenge at The House That Stamps Built.

I loved playing with this inspiration and this is what I came up with for a final card.  I used RI Stamps #1317-L "Vase of Tulips" for my focal image, die cutting it and paper piecing the vase after coloring the flowers with Copic Markers.  I stamped the image twice so I could cut the flowers and pop them off the base image for dimension.  The sentiment is RI #424-G "Wishing You a Season".

For lots more creative inspiration take a peak at what my team mates have in store for you.

You will have until midnight CST on Saturday, November 15th, to comment.
Winners will be announced on the Die-Versions and Repeat Impression blogs on Sunday, November 16th.

Both of my card feature this incredibly beautiful Di-Versions die "Whispers Skate Around".  I must tell you, I LOVE these dies.  They cut cleanly and the detailing is incredible.

I paired the "Skate Around" skate die with RI Stamp #8810-H "Snow Much Fun".  I created this card by first die cutting the skate image in white cs, then centering and cutting it through the two blue layers, one at a time.  The bottom layer is then adhered to a piece of printer paper covered in double sided tape and the white skates are placed inside the opening in the blue layers.  Once adhered, I ran them through an embossing folded and adhered it to the front card base.  I then stamped the sentiment on a piece of white cs, distressed it with DI "Tumbled Glass", trimmed it, and placed it on dimensional tape and adhered it to the front of the card.  The "stars" were added using Viva Glitter Pen "Hologram"

RI stamps used on this card are #8805-K "Snowflakes" for the background and #424-G "Wishing You a Season".

We hope that we have inspired you to be creative, and that you'll do a bit of shopping at the Die-Versions and Repeat Impressions' websites!

DESIGNER'S CHOICE CHALLENGE AT REPEAT IMPRESSIONS

Hi blog friends!!!

Winter arrived here this past Sunday....we got over 6" of new snow in our area, however, north of us 100 miles they got over a foot and many people had no power for days.  Yikes!!!   Fortunately, our area did not lose power.

There's a new Designer's Choice Challenge at The House That Stamps Built and this week my sweet friend Patti J is hosting and her challenge is "Being Thankful".

The stamps I used for my card are RI Stamps #9705-M "Jar" and #9719-E "A Pint of Thanks" both from one of the newest stamp sets "Contain Yourself".  I colored the jar with Copic Markers and did some dry embossing with a couple of different embossing folders on some paper layers.  I used Spellbinders Labels Eighteen for the sentiment and a tiny heart punch I picked up at Michaeles for $1.00!  The doily is another "find" in Michaels discount bin.

I hope you're inspired to play along with the Rock Stars and Patti J's Being Grateful challenge.  For more inspiration, you want to check out my Rock Star team mates.
