OPERATION WRITE HOME MEMORIAL DAY BLOG HOP

Happy Memorial Day, blog friends!!

Once again, I am participating in this very special blog hop with Operation Write Home and I hope all of my blog followers and friends will take some time during this weekend to visit some of the extrodinarily talented crafters represented here....I know you're sure to be inspired and there are some awesome prizes to win too.

This year, our cards are saying "Thank You" to our service men and women.  If you've never heard of Operation Write Home, I encourage you to check it out and get on board with some great people for a great reason.

I'm remembering my dad this holiday - he was a Pearl Harbor survivor.  On December 7, 1941, he was 20 years old (barely) and had already been a soldier for 2 years.  He passed away in 1994 - a member of the greatest generation.  I miss him.

I used two sketches and made two cards:

Stamp is from Stampers Best big supporter of OWH

I wish you all a very happy Memorial Day weekend - please don't forget why we have this holiday....freedom is NOT free...someone fought (and fights) for it and we need to remember that.

Thank you OWH....You ROCK!!!!!

Thank you and your family for their service. My father-in-law served in World War II. So, your recollections of your dad's service really resonated. Thank you for sharing.

Like the embossed strips on first Kraft card. Making a mental note to do that. And your second card is really great with all those patriotic strips. Burlap really gives it a masculine touch.

I love both cards, Cheri, but the first one with the embossed stars and the soldiers is my favorite. I miss my dad too who was 90 when he died in 2006. He was a veteran of WWII and Korea. Luckily he was in the Mediterranean on an escort ship and not at Pearl and yes their generation will be missed. God Bless and hope you have a great weekend, a wonderful time to remember.

Gotta say I like the first one best, maybe because of your story about your father. It just says "comraderie." Thanks for your participation in the OWH Blog Hop and for reminding us just how personal this Memorial Day truly is!

These are both marvelous! I don't think I can choose a favorite but I can say that I love red and blue combined with kraft as much as I like it with white. What a nice memory to share of your Dad too. Truly the greatest generation! Thanks for joining in the hop and for supporting Operation Write Home!

I love your two patriotic cards. Your first card has great star embossing which makes a bold and strong statement behind the soldier stamp. I really like how you inked around the edges of your image and mounted it on foam tape. I really like how you turned the sketch for the second card and made another bold and strong card. Love the big and layered star on top of the mesh ribbon border. Great texture! Thank you for sharing your cards today. Very cool that your Dad was at Pearl Harbor - I bet he had some amazing stories to share from that day. ~ Marilyn
