This is not the time to be inside making cards, but I wanted to get some challenges off my workspace - there's more I want to do this week. Now that I've done that, I'm headed outside to grab some rays and work in my garden a bit. But, before I do, I wanted to show you a card I made for Carla's color challenge over at StampTV this week. She challenged us to make a card using the black/ivory and one accent color. My accent color for this card was "wine".
Here's the card and I'm going to give it to my boss who is retiring this month. It's a manly sort of card I thought; what do you think?
I used GKD Pure Luxury CS; Black Onyx, Ivory and Wine with Everything. The stamps are from the set "Gifts From the Sea" by Melanie Munchinger for GKD. I distressed the layers of black and wine CS and then used a wet paintbrush to wet the edges of the paper and roll them back. This gives it a leathery appearance.
After stamping the shells (I used a mask) and the sand, I colored them with Copic Markers, then sponged a background of sunset colors using Distress Inks, Spun Sugar, Antique Linen and a touch of Victorian Velvet. Once that was done I created a cracked glass look and then framed it with Nestability dies. The torn DP is a scrap of Graphic45 from the "A Proper Gentlemen" collection. After stamping the sentiment I took a couple of the Distress Inks and swiped them in a swirling motion over the top.
I hope you like it. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day.
