Vintage Art

Hi there blogger friends,
I got a membership for Technique Junkies Newsletter a while back and in the June/July 2011 issue there is a technique called "Vintage Art".  I followed the instructions "to the letter" and what a fabulous result I got!  If you're not familiar with this publication, check it out.

Here's my card using the vintage art technique.

The stamp I used is a beauty from "I Brake For Stamps".  The dp is from Basic Grey "Out of Print" 6x6 paper pack.  My card stock is from Gina K Designs Pure Luxury line.  The rose was colored using Copic Markers.

A Day in Purgatory

Hello Blogging Buddies!

I'm not posting any  cards here, instead I thought I would show you a few photos of a day we spent at our camp on Purgatory Lake (really, that's it's name) yesterday.  What a glorious day it was!

 A rock with a view

 Camp Vehicles

Where the rubber meets the road

Memories of days like yesterday keep us going during the long winters here in Maine!

Thanks for stopping by - I'll be back tomorrow with a technique card I think you'll like.

Have a wonderful day!

Mix It Up Monday

Hello Blogger Buddies,
By the time most of you read this post, the challenge I'm posting here will be over....I'm getting in right under the wire again.  *sheepish smile*
Nevertheless, here's my entry for the Mix It Up Monday (last week's) challenge over at StampTV.
Lee Murphy's challenge is called:   Gettn' Sketchy and she's given us two variations of one sketch to choose from OR you can incorporate them both.  Here they are:

There are some great entries in the gallery, so check out the StampTV gallery for more great inspiration.

Here's my card for Lee's challenge and as you can see I choose the second sketch to follow.

The stamp is from the new FREE set called "Bold and Beautiful" from Gina K Designs.  I colored the butterfly with Copic Markers #YR24, R85, R89, YG06 and YG13.  I used my Sakura Gelly Roll Clear pen on the wings for some glitzy highlighting, but I don't think the photo shows it well.  The bg is from Basic Grey Sweet Threads and I embossed it using a Sizzix "Retro" emobssing folder.  The CS is all from GKD Pure Luxury line - Ivory, Sweet Mango and the one of her new colors Key Lime.  The butterfly is framed using Spellbinder Nestability dies.

I hope you all have a GREAT week.
Thanks for stopping by,
Cheri

CSS Alumni Paper Piecing Blog Hop

Welcome to another fabulous CSS DT Alumni blog hop.  This one is all about paper piecing and if you need some great inspiration and instruction on how to do this technique you can check out Gina K's fantastic tutorial.

If you have come here from the fabulously talented Carolina's blog, then you're in the absolute right place.  If you didn't, we invite you to take the hop from the beginning and enjoy each and every fabulous project from  the StampTV CSS Alumni DT.

I made two cards for this challenge.  I hope they give you some inspiration and we all hope you'll join us in this challenge and make a paper pieced card and post it to the blog forum.

Here's my first card

This little frog makes me smile each time I see it and I love combining his face with various sentiments.  To me, frogs have always seemed to be critters of subtle wiseness, patience and knowingness.  I love to hear the peepers in the springtime, they sing out the message the ground is thawing and spring is on the way.  Their combined voices (hymn sings) raise a song of spring, hope and encouragement.  A friend of mine is in a difficult place in her life right now and she needs a frog with a promise of love and hope, so he's headed her way.  I really love these two stamp sets together -  What do you think?

Stamp sets:  "Little Critters" by Theresa Momber and "Wild at Heart" by Melanie Muenchinger.
CS:  Pure Luxury Ivory, Green Grass and Creme de Menthe.
DP:  Basic Grey "Sweet Threads" used in paper piecing.

Here's my second card:

Stamp Sets:  "Bold and Beautiful"  which is FREE right now at StampTV.  Check out the details HERE.  I used GKD PL Ivory and Vibrant Violet CS.  DP is "Sweet Threads" by Basic Grey.  The iris was paper pieced using the same plaid paper on the layering panel.  I really liked how it turned out.  The pearls were white and colored with Copic #BV08.

Thanks so much for hopping with us.

Now keep hopping over to the fabulously gifted Giovana's blog for more inspiration.

Have a great weekend!

Cherry Blossom Hello

Hi blogger friends!

I just love this stamp set I got from Flouishes called "Cherry Blossoms".  I wanted to make a very quick card for a friend of my mother's who has been so dedicated by staying in touch with her - writing letters and notes....just keeping a loving touch from a friend on a constant basis.  Flo and Mom lived across the street from each other and went to the same church and have been friends for more than 20 years.  Letter writing is such a lost art and Flo has been such a dedicated letter writer to Mom.  Since my mother can't acknowledge her notes and letters (she has Alzheimer's) I wanted to let Flo know, by way of a handmade card, how much Mom appreciates her long distance friendship and thought I'd show you the card I made for Flo using this sweet set.

Don't miss the StampTV CSS DT Alumni Blog Hop this weekend.  Take the hop and see all the great paper piecing inspiration projects this extremely talented team comes up with.

Join us at the StampTV Blog Hop this weekend - see you then!
