MARCH 2017 INSPIRATION CHALLENGE FROM THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

I was inspired by the colors in the inspiration piece and used them to make this shaker card.  The stamps I used here are RI#8120-K "Scruffy Puppy" and RI#8610 from the "Unmounted 8600 sheet set"

MARCH 2017 TIC, TAC, TOE CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Hello blog friends!  

Are you loving the new challenge at The House That Stamps Built?  I am, and I really especially like the new Tic, Tac, Toe challenge.  

Here's this month's TTT Challenge  

For my card I used the row right down the middle:  Dimension, Bright Colors and Birthday.  

I used two RI stamps for this card, RI#5108-F "Balloon Sil Lg" and #5126-C "Balloon Sil Sm.", both can be found HERE.  

I used Distress Inks, Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmons and Twisted Citron.  

I sponged the bg with Memento Sky Blue and a handmade stencil to create the "sky".  

The dimensional "happy birthday" was created by die cutting through the balloons, then layering with multiple black cs layers and placing back inside the original die cut negative in the balloons.  (After first adding adhesive behind it on the base layer).

PLAYING WITH PULLED COLOR

Hello Junkies!!!! 

When I first joined Technique Junkies Newsletter in 2009, I knew I'd never get through all the techniques I saw there, so I made a list of them and am still (happily) working off that list.  

Today I'm sharing the "Pulled Color" technique which can be found in the August/September 2012 newsletter.  This was so much fun and I absolutely love all the results I got.

  I took the technique one step further and added a little more texture with an Art Anthology stencil "Cracked" .  The stamp is "Art Mistakes", which I think fit this card perfectly.  

Here's another example of the technique, I placed it in background for the "Watercolor Giraff" from the March 2017 release.

Here are a few cards I made with some of the new stamps.  First up, I made this one using "Queen".  I think this is such a fabulous stamp with the combined sentiment. She looks so regal, doesn't she?  I used an older Cheery Lynn "Cathedral Lace" die for the background.  The card base is kraft and I stamped the image on kraft as well.  To help her pop and give her some depth, I used a grey Copic Marker and outlined the image after stamping it with Archival Black Ink.  I highlighted her lips with a red glitter pen...it gave her some sass!!!! LOL.  

My next card uses this fabulous silhouette stamp "Baby Makes Three".  I had to stamp it several times, using my MISTI (what did I ever do before I had such a fabulous tool?) because I used watercolor paper to build a watercolor background on both the card layer and the image layer.  I wanted to the image to appear as though it is emerging from the bg piece.  I hope it does.  

My final card shows off another fabulous image and sentiment combination stamp called "Love and Laughter Floral" .  For the bg on this one, I did some baby wipe blending with various dye ink colors in the lavendar/purple color family.  I decided to stamp the image with "Potting Soil" Archival Ink and I loved how that worked for this image.  I used my polychromo pencils to color the foral and used my white gel pen to highlight the berries and the words, love, laughter and joy.

DESIGNER'S CHOICE CHALLENGE FOR MARCH 2017 - LONG TALL SALLY

Hey there blog friends!!!  

It's a Designer's Choice Challenge over at The House That Stamps Built and this month it's Laurie's turn and her challenge is to create a "Long Tall Sally" card.  

I had never heard of this type of card, but found out it's a card that would fit into a business sized envelop.  What a fun idea!!!!  I often get caught up in A2 size cards and rarely, if ever, make any others.  This was such a great change and cool idea.  

My card uses RI#k9601-I Beer Foam, RI#9602-O "Beer Mug" and 9607-E "Happy Beerday To You".  All are from the "Bottoms Up" Series.    

I stamped the mugs on a sandy colored card stock and colored the mugs with (what else?) my Copic Markers.  I painted the foam with white acrylic paint and then went back in with a Memento gray marker to redraw the definition.  I layed that panel against a black panel to accent it and white heat embossed the sentiment on a separate strip of black card stock.  The star is a tiny punch.
