Color Challenge at Stamp TV

Hello blogger friends!  


Can you believe it's mid-February?  Time seems to fly so quickly these days.  
Stamp TV has another color challenge going on - so join in and play along.  The colors this week are 

If you don't have the GKD pure luxury CS papers/colors choose what you have in your stash that's close and join in.  The winner (selected at random) will receive a brand new stamp set (valued up to $24.95) by GKD.  
I've been working on the CAS (clean and simple) technique and thought this would be a fun color group to create a CAS card with. 

I used the CS for framing the image which was stamped using 3 stamp sets by Melanie Muenchinger (one of them was a WIN) - "Pressed Flowers", "A Year of Flowers" and for the sentiment, "Arranged with Love".  I used Memento inks, "London Fog" and "Tangelo".  At first I was going to use a mask for the flowers, but then after trying it with a more transparent/shadowy look, I decided I liked it much better.  This was a very easy and quick card to put together.  Give the color challenge a try and have some fun.  All products can be purchased at Stamptv

Dinosaur Love

Hi friends!


I have two gorgeous grandchildren - Philip who will be 4 in April and Alexa who will be 3 in June - they're truly my heartbeat.  They both love dinosaurs, so this year, for their Valentine's cards, I decided to use the new stamps by Theresa Momber  (StampTV) entitled "Dino-Mite".  


Philip is going to get this card.

The background is made with a CuttleBug Embossing Folder - it looks like snake skin - on Gina K Design Pure Luxury Card Stock "Sand".  That piece was layered on a piece of "Red Hot" CS, also GKD PL.  The dino image was stamped and then masked.  I then stamped the background and sponged it with Distress Inks.  Once that was done, I pulled off the mask and colored the dinosaur with Copic Markers.  I used Spellbinder's Heart Dyes to cute the hear shape, mounted them on the card layer with popdots.   The sentiment was punched out with a scalloped MS 1 1/2 inch circle punch.  Embellishments are Stickles (for the dino's back) and ribbon.  The base layer of CS is GKD Pure Luxury White.  


Alexa will get this card:

It's a girlie dino.  I used a sketch from the sketch challenge over at StampTV this week for the background.  The papers I used were Basic Grey "Sugar Rush".  This card's focal point was created the same as the one for Philip, stamping, masking, sponging and coloring.  Again Stickles was used for embellishment.  On this card I used Spellbinder Oval Nestabilities and dye cut the sentiment using the smaller heart dye, also from Spellbinder.

Would you look at the color, detail and dimension in this photo?  I am going to play with this inspiration photo a lot more, but for this hop, I made this card as my interpretation of the inspiration.

Details:  CS:  GKD PL  Ivory, Lipstick Red and Chocolate Brown.  Cuttlebug "Branches" folder was used for the textured background.  Stamp set:  Sentiment is from "Arranged with Love", by Melanie Muenchinger .  DP:  Basic Grey Curio.  Flourishes were cut using a Tim Holtz Alterations Dye.  Spellbinders Nestabilities and MS butterfly punch.  Stickles and Pearls were used for detail.

Glitter On My Nose

Tonight I've been making Valentine cards for my grandchildren and decided to add some Stickles for some pop and fun....so how did it end up on my nose???  Trust me, my nose doesn't need the attention.  I'll post photos of the cards (not my nose) on my blog later so you can see the glitz and glitter!  LOL.  


I wanted to post a card I made for the color challenge over at StampTV this week and talk about a toughie!  If you want a real color challenge go on over to StampTV and try this one.  

I've been playing with Melanie Munchinger's newest awesome stamp set called "Where Your Heart Is" and thought I'd try making this color palette work with it.  I came up with this card.

I love the vintage look on cards and so I wanted to try using these colors in that theme or style.  


Melanie is such a talented lady and her stamp sets have longevity - you'll use them over and over again.  This set has, as the focal stamp, two hands with fingers bending as in the shape of a heart.  I felt so honored when, before this set was released, Melanie gave me a sneak peak and asked me what I thought.  When I saw it, I instantly felt nostalgic. When my son was little, I would watch him get on the school bus and once he was seated on the bus, I would make this sign and he would smile and wave back at me through the window.  Sometimes, when he was in a funky blue mood, I would place this sign over my eye and look through it at him, it would always make him laugh.  


Anywho, as this card began to come together and it took on the vintage look, I thought about all the mothers throughout the centuries who have sent their children off to some kind of service in the world, whether it was off to war, off to work, off to school or off on their life's adventure.  A mother's heart will love you beyond forever and I hope this card reflects that.
