Gingersnaps Creations Granny's Photo Album

Hi there blog friends!!

I'm thrilled to have been asked to be Visiting Artist at Gingersnaps Creations for the month of March. I've been following Gingersnaps for a couple of years, yet, only this year decided to enter some of their challenges.  There's an impressive list of artists here.....and to have been invited to be a visiting artist for March has been an incredible honor.  Thank you Gingers!!! I'm so excited to be here and looking forward to the fabuous challenges planned this month.

March's Gingersnaps' theme is nostalgia and family and, they are turning a page.  After 3 years, this is their last month as a challenge blog - I will miss them.

"March is always a special month at Gingersnap Creations. It's our birthday! 3 years ago we started on this fun journey! Now, as we come to the end of it, we are looking back and celebrating our fabulous community by making Family our theme in March which is International Women's Month and National Craft Month. We'll be focusing on heritage and antiquing techniques all month as look to the past with fondness."

The first challenge this month is "Granny's Photo Album".  When I received this challenge, I immediately thought of my gt. grandmother.  She treasured and valued family.  She was born in 1871 and died at 97 years old in 1968, when I was a freshman in college. I've always felt so fortunate to have known her as not many can say they knew their "greats".  When I received this vintage digi from Red Lead in a free offer this week.  I knew immediately I would be using it with this GS theme/challenge of "Granny's Photo Album".

The frame is chipboard I purchased from Red Lead - I antiqued it with Adirondack Dabbers "Espresso" and "Gold".  Before it dried, I rubbed it with a cloth that had been dipped in "Snow Cap" for highlight effect.  I also purchased the gold frame corners from Red Lead.  I recall in the old photo albums, they used a white pen to write the details of the image beneath the photos on the black paper of the photo albums of the time.  I tried to recreat that with a white uni-ball Singo pen (the best white pen I've ever used).

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you'll play along with Gingersnaps Creations this month.  It's your last chance!!

Have a GREAT week!!!

Cheri
