SEPTEMBER 2016 COLOR CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Hello, blog friends!

it's color challenge week at The House That Stamps Built.  What can you create with these colors?

I needed some time with this one.  I had so many ideas, yet nothing was coming out on card stock.  I finally decided on another scene card.  I really love playing with the Repeat Impression scene stamps.

Blue Herons are such majestic birds.  They're large, while yet very graceful.  We have a stream on our property and they like to "fish" in there all summer.  It's so wonderful to watch them fly over our house while they go back and forth to their fishing hole.

Please join our challenge this week.  So many of you played in our anything goes challenge last week and we were delighted.  We'd love to see more and more of you joining our challenges each week.  Wendy offers a generous $25.00 gift certificate to Repeat Impressions Stamps to the randomly choosen winner of our challenges so jump in.

You don't want to miss these creative ladies and what they've created for this challenge.

ANYTHING GOES CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Hello, hello blog friends...I hope you're all having a great week.

Wow...did summer fly by fast or what?  It seems like just yesterday that it was Memorial Day weekend and we were all looking forward to sunshine and warm weather.  For us here in Maine, that's a big deal...we only get summer a short time and we like to savor it.  It makes me sad to see it go.

So, there's a fifth Wednesday this month and that means at The House That Stamps Built, we get to create for an anything goes challenge....it's a favorite all over blogland.

So, you know how I'm already missing summer....after I made this card, I was reminded of what a great summer we had and all the fabulous memories that were made in the summer of 2016.

RI Stamps #9008-N "Cool Treats" and #8610-D "It's Time To Party".

Please join us with your creation for the Anything Goes challenge at The House.  All details for entering and what you could win are there.

Here are some incredible ladies to show you what they've created for this challenge.

PROJECT OF THE WEEK - CRISS CROSS CARD

Hi everyone, I'm here with another project of the week for The House That Stamps Built.

This week I thought I'd show you a card design that's an old favorite of mine.  It's super easy and makes great cards for special occasions.

Here are the supplies you'll need to make this type of card.

1 sheet of 8.5 x 11 inch card stock for the base.
Designer paper of your choice cut 4x5.25.
glue and/or ScoreTape
1 piece of card stock measuring 4x5 for inside mat
Stamps, embellishments of your choice

You first will cut your 8.5 x 11 inch card stock in half measuring over 5.50 inches on the 11 inch side.  You'll then have two pieces of CS each measuring 4.25 x 5.50.  (the size of an A2 card).  Score these pieces on the 8.5 inch side in half again at 4.25 inches.

Next you'll place one of these cut pieces in your paper cutter making sure the scored fold point and the bottom corner of the cs are on an even diagonal.  This takes a little adjusting, however, it's important that each point is perfectly placed.  When you're ready, cut the angle off.  Repeat on the second portion of cs, on the opposite side.

You should have two separate mirror images, as shown.

Put score tape or glue of your choice on the back of one of the mirror images and then place it over the top of the other unglued piece up to, but not over the score line.  The two pieces should be flush on all edges.

Use a bone folder to press the folds down then grab your designer paper and place it in your paper cutter on the angle of corner to corner.  If you're using double sided paper for this, you only have to cut one piece of paper.  If you are using single sided paper you'll need to cut two pieces each in opposite direction.

Adhere these pieces to each side of the base card where they fold.

Next run a strip of glue or Score Tape along the bottom of the center of the base card and fold one of the side panels over it.  (you decide which side will be in the background and which one will be in the foreground).

Next run some glue or tape along the bottom edge of the side panel you just adhered and seal that side.  Your card is now done and ready to decorate.

RI Stamps used for this card are #9501-O "Wine Time", #9504-G "Wine Label" and #9515-G "Friends and Wine".  All from the Wine Time set.

Happy creating!!!

AUGUST 2016 INSPIRATION CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Happy Wednesday, blog friends!!!

We're working on an inspiration photo this week at The House and we're all hoping you'll join us.

I grew up on Lake Champlain and each August, when this moon appeared, it was known as the "August Moon".  We used to have beach parties...built a big beach fire and someone would always have a guitar, so we'd sign and laugh and....fall in love under the August moon.  Romance was short lived after we all went back to school, but oh, those last summer nights!!!! The memories and friends last a lifetime.

I was totally inspired by the entire image and, of course, the moon was the focal part.   RI Stamps #3602-P "First Light", #3412-C "Gulls in Flight" and for the sentiment, RI# 1101-F "Retirement".

Come on over and play along....just grab some inspiration from the photo and enter your card at The House That Stamps Built.

Don't miss these talented ladies....they've got some awesomeness to show you
