DESIGNER'S CHOICE CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE

Greetings, blog friends!  

We're featuring a designer's choice challenge at The House this week and it's Heather's turn.  Heather has chosen "Hearts".  This is an easy challenge and we hope you'll all find some time to join us.  

Like he stole the cheese, this little mouse (RI #4205-G "Cheese Heart Mouse") stole my heart!  What a fun image to make a card with.  For the sentiment I used "You"  word set.

Watercolor Classes

Hey there, Blog friends!  

I love taking the OnLine Card Classes , I've learned some great techniques from outstanding instructors and have taken many of them. 

Recently, I signed up for the Intermediate Watercolor class facilitated by Dawn Woleslagle (of WPlus9) and I've learned so much.  (You can link over to the class from the badge on my right sidebar).  These classes are a great way to grow your creative side and I would encourage you to sign up for any one of them.  

I combined a couple of techniques; glazing and color mixing which Dawn covered in the preliminary class, and made this card.  It's not great, but it was fun and I liked the results.  I used Tim Holtz watercolor paper and Koi watercolor paints.  The image is Impression Obsession "Fair Madien" stamp which I stamps with Archival Ink "Watering Can".  I stamped it off before stamping it on the watercolor paper in order to get the lighter, faded lines.  The sentiment is from Gina K Designs, Hugs and Prayers set. (this set is discontinued).

WHAT IF? WEDNESDAY COLOR CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE

A fun color challenge at THE HOUSE this week....

Lots of fun with this color grouping and it can be used with almost any stamp in your collection or technique you like.  

I saw these "blocks"of color and took it literally....

On this card I used RI Stamp #7118-I "Queen" and RI#5132-D "Heart Sil (sm).  I created the "blocks" with the square "Flip Stitch Die Set".   I colored the "Queen" with Copics and added some "doodling" to frame her.  

I hope you'll grab some crafting time and play along with this fun color challenge.  I, and the other Rock Stars would love to see your creation.

PROJECT OF THE WEEK - ON THE EDGE STAMPING

Hi everyone, Cheri here with another easy peasy POTW for The House That Stamps Built.

This is a great way to get more from your stamps while creating something different and unique with them.  I'm sure there are other names for this technique, but for this one, I'm calling it "on the edge stamping".  

Here are the supplies you'll need:

Stamps of your choice, ink for stamping, ruler, scissors, card stock.  If you decide to color your images, you'll need your favorite coloring medium.  For my cards I used Copic Markes as well as colored ink.  

Step 1 - determine where you'd like your image to end on your card stock layer.  I choose 1/2 inch from the edge.  You will then lightly draw a line down the layer with a pencil.  Keep your pressure light so the mark is easy to erase.  

Step 2 - line up your stamp to overlap the penciled line and placed up against the cut edge of the card stock layer.  

Step 3 - Stamp your image as you'd like it to appear.   (I used a MISTI for my stamping.  It makes it easier if you have to re-stamp the image).

Step 4 - Color your image, then cut it out along the penciled line you have drawn on the card stock.  

Finally, finish your card as you'd like it.  For this card I kept my butterflies as a panel, however you'll notice on my second card, I cut the stamped edge and let it be a "border" on the card.  There are so many possibilities using this technique.  Stamps used for this card:  RI#9001-L "Butterfly (Lg)" and RI# 6103-J "Thinking Vertical" .

For this card, I stamped the heart images with colored ink before cutting them out to form the border.  RI#5118-H "Heart Sil Lg", RI#5132-D "Heart Sil sm" , RI# 3405-C "Random Hearts", RI# 1204-I "Love".

JANUARY SKETCH CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE

Hi there, blog friends!  

It's time for another What If? Wednesday challenge from The House That Stamps Built and Repeat Impressions stamps!  

This week it's sketch challenge time and here is the sketch

My card for this challenge uses one of the cute Bear stamps and sentiment RI#1918=F "Beary Special" and RI, #701-K "Belle".  I love to color this image and I've found it can be used for many cards from birthday to welcome baby.  

For a change, I colored the image with my Prismacolor pencils.  I've had them for years and they rarely get used.  I wanted to try a pencil technique I learned from Julia Altermann on YouTube.  While I don't think I achieved the look I was going for I liked the layering technique with the pencils, so I'll continue to work on it.
