Party Like You're Going Extinct

Gina K Designs at StampTV had a great release party this month and one of the new stamp sets is this cute set by Theresa Momber called "Dino-Mite".

The details:
Base Layer Pure Luxury White CS by GDK.  Alterations Flourish Dies in Pure Luxury CS colors Red Hot, Sweet Corn and Fresh Asparagus.
Copic Marker #R27, YR17 and R32 and 0
Spellbinders Nestabilities Petit Oval die
I used the "Out of the Box" technique on the white oval and then layered the two other ovals beneath it.  Once I placed them on the base layer, I trimmed the edge off for added dimension.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Heart Challenges

Hi everyone,

I've got to get going on my Valentine cards and two challenges this week are helping me do that.

I'm entering this card for those two challenges.   The first challenge is for Joan's Garden Weekly Challenge #2 and the other challenge is over at Speedy the Cat's Challenge #39

The details for Joan's Weekly Challenge #2 are to make a card using:
1.   Paper with a stripe in it.
2.   A button or other embellishment
3.   Use a heart
4.   Use a bow

The details for Speedy the Cat's Challenge #39 at Mark's Finest Papers are to use hearts on your card.

Here's my card:

My card base is made with Gina K Pure Luxury White.  I used a Scalloped Nestabilities Heart Die to cut through the sea green colored cs (from my stash) and I then distressed the edges with Tim Holtz "Antique Linen" Distress Ink.  I then layered behind that piece an embossed and distressed piece of cs cut with a regular Nestabilities Heart Die in on smaller size.  Next I layered with Graphic 45 DP "Once Upon a Springtime" collection piece stamped with a sentiment from the GKD stamp set "Love Notes"  The ribbon is MS, roses are from my stash and the button is one from my treasured old/antique button collection.  Once put together, I layered it on my the front of my card base and called it good.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a great week.

This is Color Spotlight #8 hop and Gina K, over at StampTV, has created a fantastic video you are definitely going to want to see.  She'll be giving you all the details on how YOU can enter for a chance to win a FREE StampTV stamp set.

That being said, when we (the CSSDT) were told about the color spotlight, these were the colors assigned.

I made 2 cards with this color palette.  Here's my first card.

This is a card on a card.  The greeting (Happy Birthday) is between the scalloped card with note area on the inside of the main part of the card.

Card details:
Layered with Basic Grey designer paper "June Bug"
Stamps:  GKD "Nana's Needlework" and "Nana's Needlework Sentiments" by Nina Brackett.
Inks:  Vivid "Vintage Green" and "Brick".
Die:  Spellbinders Nestabilities Scalloped Circles Large

Here is my second card:  (Another birthday card)

Card details:
The panel design paper is again from the Basic Grey "June Bug" line layered on the a piece of "Red Hot" and then marked with faux stitches using a Ranger Inkssentials White Opaque pen.
Stamp Set:  GKD "Hope Grows" by Theresa Momber layered on Spellbinders Nestabilities Small Scalloped Octagon die and for the sentiment "Showtime Stamp Kit Springtime Mix".  I pierced all around the edge of the octagon.
Inks:  Vivid "Vintage Green",(leaves) Momento "Rich Cocoa" (bird)
CuttleBug Embossing Folder "Moroccan Tiles" on the background CS.
Copic markers were used to color the bird:  R0000, R46, G21, YG06, Y32, E000

When Gina posted her video she threw in a change-up and spotlighted this color palette instead of the one above:
The GOOD NEWS is no matter which color palette you choose to play with you can enter the video color spotlight challenge and a chance to WIN a FREE StampTV stamp set.

I made this card using this color palette:

Card details:
Stamps sets:  "Square Pegs" by Melanie Muenchinger and the sentiment is "Love Notes", by Gina K.
CuttleBug Embossing Folder (sorry, I don't recall the title)

All products I used on my cards can be purchased at StampTV.  Finish hopping then go shopping!  Have some fun with your craft this year!   Now hop on over to the very talented and lovely Deb Felts blog and see her gorgeous creations.

Birthday Card

I made this birthday card a few weeks ago for a sweet, sweet lady who's birthday is next month.  (I won't say who it is right now, because I don't know if she visits my blog and I'd like to surprise her).  The card was for a StampTV color challenge using Gina K Pure Luxury card stock in colors white, bubble gum pink and black onyx.  I love this combination of colors and this card came together rather quickly.

When we were kids, after playing outside on winter days, our woolen mittens used to be all wet and plastered with balls of snow.  We would come in and hang them over the heating grates on the floor to dry.  I thought the flourishes sort of made that kind of scene on this card.

Card details:

Stamps by Gina K Design, "Winter Mittens" by Nina Brackett and the sentiment is from "Warm and Wonderful" by Rupa Shevde.
Card Stock:  GKD Pure Luxury White, Bubble Gum Pink and Black Onyx.
Other:  Flourish Punch, CuttleBug Snowflakes EF and Swiss Dots EF and Spellbinder Mitten die.
All products can be purchased at StampTV.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Snow Stormy Day in Maine

The weather folks predicted we were going to get a good size snow storm today, but I don't think they realized how big it would be.  What first was thought to be a 5"-9" accumulation has turned out to be double that.  Our schools were closed today and although our office was open (or supposed to be), I left at 12:00.  It was a terrible drive home through white-out conditions.  I was grateful that there weren't many others on the roadway with me because visibility was zero at times.  Here's a photo I just took outside our front door.

And it's as cold as it looks!  Brrrrrr!

I hope you're all safe and warm wherever you are.
Time for a hot tea!
