Something in Memory Of

Hi there, thanks for stopping by my blog.

Today, I wanted to post something that I made a couple of years ago after I had to have my sweet dog, Cuddles, put down.  She had tumor on her lung and it was inoperable.  I still feel so sad about it because I miss her so much.  A week or so after her death, I found a wall hanging project idea in one of my craft magazines I decided to make one of Cuddles.  It was very comforting to make this project and I have it on the wall by my bed so when I get up each day, there she is, like she always was.

The papers were all scraps and pieces that I had around from other projects.  I kept the colors to green, pink and brown.  The message of the wall hanging is "A Love Beyond Measure".  I purchased 3 canvas panels (4X6) at Michaels and painted them with a sea green acrylic paint before adding the papers and the embellishments.   I added little screw eyes into the panels for connecting them together with scraps of ribbon and I added another longer length of ribbon for hanging the whole thing.

Thanks for looking,

Cheri

Happy New Year!

I am soooo ready for a new year!  Not that last year was a bad one, it had it's moments, but I'm looking forward to 2010 being full of great things!

You're probably tired of Christmas and holiday cards, but if you could stand just one more, I'm going to post this snow globe card that was really fun to make.  I found the direction here on SplitCoastStampers.  I hope you like it.

The papers I used were from Graphic 45 .  The background of the globe is from the "Christmas Past" collection, I thought the snowy background really looked.  The soldiers are from the "Playtimes Past Collection".  The card stock is from GKD "Rocket Red" for the card itself and GKD "In the Navy" for the piecing pieces on the inside (not shown).  I used a CuddleBug folder to create the top of the globe and then used my glitter pen to highlight swirls.  The tutorial gives you the list of supplies you'll need so have some fun and check it out.

May all your new year wishes come true!

Continuing Happy Holidays

Hello everyone and Welcome to the Stamp TV Members December Blog Hop!

I'm so happy that you stopped by to look at my card projects.  I hope you'll leave a message for me, I love reading them and learning about you.

I'm still in a "Christmas  frame of mind" so I made this card for Selma's Blast From the Past Challenge  over at StampTV  The technique is called "Using Colored Pencils and OMS " so check it out.

The dp is from Bo-Bunny's Limited Edition Glitter Series entitled "Snowy Serenade Sparkles".  It is gorgeous paper.  The bottom portion of the card is cs from GKD Pure Luxury Pure White embossed with a Cuttlebug folder (sorry I don't remember the name of it, but it's swirly...kinda looks like snow.)  I layered it on GKD Base Weight CS "Ocean Mist" and then on GKD Pure Luxury "Silver Lining".  The corners were Cuttlebug dyes.  I used 2 GKD stamp sets to make this card.

The cabin and the trees  (I stamped them subtly on the dp) are from the "Life Is Good" set by Theresa Momber.  The sentiment is from GKD "Holiday Hospitality ".  Ink used is Vivid "Aqua "  stamped on GKD Pure Luxury CS and cut then embossed on Spellbinders Shapeabilities "Fancy Tags".  The cabin too was stamped on Pure Luxury Pure White CS, colored using the colored pencil and OMS technique, then cut and embossed using my Nestabilities standard circle large.  Once both the sentiment and cabin were cut and embossed, I sponged them very lightly with  Vivid Aqua before adhering them to the card.

I had a little fun with the trees around the cabin.  I used Flowersoft (Spring Green) on them and then "decorated" them with Ice Stickles from Ranger.  I absolutely love the way it turned out.  The snow on the roof is "Snow Writer" by DecoArt.

The only embellishments I used were self sticking nail heads and ribbon from my stash.

I hope you have a happy, healthy New Year.

StampTV December Member Blog Hop

I'm so excited to be participating in the second StampTV Member Blog Hop! The stamps sets being featured are some of the most creative stamp sets I've ever used and I love, love, love each one of them.

This is one of the first cards I made using the newest stamp set by Nina Brackett, "Lovely Shelf". I'm hoping to add more cards for this hop because designs keep rolling around in my head, so please come back and see if I managed that (It might be difficult because of Christmas, but let's see if I can get'r done ;0) I think I just challenged myself :P )

Take a peak at all the other blogs in this hop by going to Gina K's Blog , she has them all here .

Life is Good Blog Hop

Hello, and Welcome!  Tonight we are featuring the stamp set "Life is Good" by Theresa Momber.

You're invited here,  so come, smell
the fragrant pine as the cold winter air blows, mingling it with the snow laying on it's branches.  Feel the gentle crunch of snow, as it breaks beneath your feet, while you carefully make a path toward the curiously soft light you see illuminating from the cabin window.  Tonight you will sleep under the stars in a warm, pine bed while keeping watch of the cabin light.  You'll hear magical sounds as water laps against a mossy lakeside shore, and feel the distant rumble of a freight train as it makes it's way toward the world of hustle and bustle, a world away from this peaceful place, where life is good.
