MOTHER NATURE'S BOX OF CRAYONS

Hello Technique Junkies Stamps peeps!!!!

I've got a super cool card for you today using the incredible background "Old Wall" from the September 2018 release and a stamp set from last year called "Autumn Set of 6" from last September's release .

All these stamps and every stamp in the TJ store  (as well as any Shimmering Bliss sprays and Bundles) can be yours with a 10% discount on your entire stamp order.  Just use my discount code TJ10Cheri.

I absolutely love the Shimmering Bliss sprays and I used them to create the blended colors on these leaves.  Oh my, my....these sprays blend like buttah...and the results are gorgeous!  I sprayed watercolor paper with a blend of Shimmering Bliss Sprays.  I let them dry and then stamped the leaves on those sprayed panels with Archival Potting Soil brown ink.  I fussy cut them and set them aside.

The background was created on another watercolor paper panel.  I stamped the fabulous "Old Wall" stamp in "Watering Can" Archival Ink and then over stamped it with "Fired Brick" Distress Oxide Ink in various areas (not the entire surface of the stamp).  I used a aqua brush to blend the DOI over the panel to color the bricks.

Copper colored embossing powder was used to added the sentiment to a vellumn die cut and placed on the "wall".  The same copper ep was used to frame the "Old Wall" image by adding VersaMark Ink and the ep to the edge of a brown card panel and heat embossing.  There's a lot of texture and dimension to this card.

FYI....there's a new monthly Technique Junkies Challenge posted.....you could win some TJ Stamps if you join in....check it out.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you've been inspired to create.

MY STAMP PICKS OF THE WEEK FOR THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Hi House friends,

I'm here with new stamp Picks of the Week for you.

I've been having a lot of fun lately creating Artist Trading Coins.  These are similar to Artist Trading Cards, in that the process is the same, it's the size and shape that makes these different.  Where ATCards size must be 2.5x3.5 inches, ATCoins must be 2.5 inches in diameter.

My stamp picks for my project are RI #9009-F "Butterfly Sm.", #108-F "Butterfly", #4404-F "Dragonfly at Rest", #4405-K "Dragonfly Deco", #1709-G "Fern" and #3103-F "Live For...".  You can purchase all of these stamps for the next week at 20% off the list prices.  BIG savings!!!

Here are my ATCoins

Here are the supplies and the process I used.

Watercolor paper, Distress Oxide Inks, craft mat, Black Archival Ink, a punch, die or template that measures 2.5 inches in diameter.  Not shown, watercolor pens (or color medium of your choice), Stencil, white and black acrylic paint for splattering.

Smoosh Distress Oxide Ink, one at a time and drying each color before applying the next, on your craft mat and spray with a little water.

With a panel of watercolor paper, slap, dip, drag it through the watered ink on the craft mat.  Dry the ink on the paper.  Apply second and third colors the same way.

Note:  I used two watercolor panels in order to get 4 coins from them. Once you've achieved the color look you want and the panel (s) are completely dry, use your punch, die or template and cut out your coins.

At this point, I added some background stenciling and acrylic splattering for additional interest and texture.  I dried each coin and then using Archival black Ink, I stamped the images I was going to use, including the fern, in order to get an idea of where the fussy cut images (below) would be on the coins.

On a separate watercolor panel, using Archival Ink (use any waterproof ink), I stamped the images I would be using. I then colored them with watercolor markers and fussy cut them from the panel.

Once each image was cut I then adhered them over the stamped image for it on the coin.  For a final touch, I stamped the sentiment "Live" from the sentiment stamp in VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with copper embossing powder.

I hope you found some inspiration here and this wasn't too lengthy. This process isn't as intimidating as you might think.  It does take some time using my process, but there are many other ways to create ATCoins out there.  Check them out and have some fun making ATCoins!  AND be sure to get your Repeat Impressions Stamps that I've used here at the 20% off discount before it's expired on Monday, September 17th.

SEPTEMBER 2018 DESIGNER'S CHOICE CHALLENGE

Hello House Fans!!!

It's the first Wednesday of the month and it's Designer's Choice Challenge at The House That Stamps Built.  Laurie is the challenge hostess and her challenge is "Anniversary".

To create the focal image of the swans, I stamped them on a white scrap card stock piece, colored them with Copic Markers.  I then made a mask for them and stamped the Heart silhouette in Victorian Velvet color Distress Inks so it would appear behind the swan.  I then die cut the image and using the same dies created a frame for them.

The background panel was created by swiping a baby wipe across the Victorian Velvet Distress Ink then swiping it from top to bottom along the panel.  I did the same using the color Black Soot, avoiding heavy swiping in the center of the panel.

I added the Random Heart stamp to the layer after deciding where it would be on the panel.

I hope you'll join in on Laurie's challenge and join us.  The details on how to enter and what you could win can be found at THE HOUSE.

For more Anniversary inspiration, check out the blogs of my super talented team mates.

TIME DOES NOT MATTER

Hello Technique Junkies Stamps peeps!

Did you have a chance to take the hop for the new September Stamp Release on Saturday?  These new autumn/fall stamps are stunning and among them are a new line from Technique Junkies new illustrator Jan Tinklenburg of "Mitten State Stamps".  The card I'm showcasing today uses one of her new stamps Autumn Leaves.

The new stamps are all still available for a 15% discount but only until September 8th.  So, if you like them and would love to add them to your autumn stamp collection, nab them now at this great discount.

All other stamps in the Technique Junkies Stamps store can be purchased with a 10% discount by using my personal discount code at check out TJ10CHERI.

I've discovered that a quick way to achieve an illumination for a background is to use a light colored card stock panel in the color family you're hoping to work with.

In this case, I wanted to color these leaves with Copic Markers blending layers of colors, so I started with a light coral colored cs panel and stamped the image with Rhubarb Stalk color ink from Memento.  It worked out beautifully.

As a final touch of elegance, I sprayed the panel with Shimmering Bliss Gold Topper which created spectacular results.

The sentiment is from "Mae West Sentiments" and a fabulous set to have on hand.  I love the sentiments in this collection.  I stamped it in VersaMark on a dark brown scrap of cs and heat embossed it in gold ep.

For a touch of added dimension and glitz I added little dots of gold shimmer from a Nuvo Glitter Marker in Gold around the finished panel.  I also used the gold glitter marker to outline the entire card panel for definition and mounted it on a dark brown card base.

Thanks for stopping by and found some inspiration.  Don't forget the discounts for all the stamps:  15% off the new September 2018 Release stamps (deadline September 8th) and 10% off all other stamps as well as Shimmering Bliss Sprays, by using my discount at check out.

SEPTEMBER 2018 TECHNIQUE JUNKIES STAMPS NEW RELEASE BLOG HOP

Hello Technique Junkies Stamps fans....here we are with a new month (where did the last one go?) and a new release hop for the September 2018 Technique Junkies Stamps.  This month we're excited to be showcasing some fabulous designs from Jan Tinklenberg.

The stamps were showcasing are available at a 15% off discount, but only until September 8th.  So if you like what you see, grab them before September 8th.  No code necessary, discount will be applied in the cart. All other stamps you might like from the Technique Junkies Store  can be purchased with a 10% discount by using my code TJ10CHERI at check out.

If you began this hop at the beginning, then you've already been to Jan's blog and that means you've also hopped here from, and seen, the fabulous creations of Lee Ann Barrett.

I hope you'll enjoy seeing these cards which I made with these fabulous new stamps.

Using "Wolf by Moonlight"  and Shimmer Bliss Sprays (Festive Flamingo, Harvest Sunset, Wine Stain and Chestnut Mare) this card was created with a technique called "Pulled Glimmer Tutorial" which you can find in the June/July 2010 TJ Newsletter.   Really fun to do.  The sentiment I added is "One Must Live"

This gorgeous stamp is one of Jan's and is called "Autumn Leaves".  I love the versatility of this stamp.  I stamped it on a neutral colored card stock with a soft brown dye ink.  I then colored it with my ColorTone pencils.  The sentiment is from the "Autumn Set of 6" set.

Here's another one of Jan's stamps.  This one is called "Autumn Blessings".  To create this card, I stamped the image on kraft colored cardstock in Archival brown ink.  I then sponged and blended Distress Oxide Inks over it.  The next thing I did was spray Shimmering Bliss Gold Topper over the entire panel. Using an aqua brush and water, I removed the color from the leaves in order to soften them.  I love how this came out.

Now, hop on over to the blog of another incredibly creative and talented lady, Stephanie Severin.  She's got amazing creations to show you.

Thanks for stopping by.  Don't forget the 15% discount on the new stamps - but only until September 8th.

All other stamps and Shimmer Bliss Sprays, can be purchased for a full 10% discount using my code at check out.

Enjoy the hop.
