BUTTERFLY BEAUTY IN MIXED MEDIA

Hey there, TJ peeps!!!

I'm still playing with the fabulous new stamps from the March Release!  This one is called Butterfly Beauty and it truly is!  I've used a lot of product from the Technique Junkies Store on this card, all links are provided.

I started layering wet Distress Oxide Inks on watercolor paper drying each layer before adding the next.  I splattered water around the panel to achieve more dimension.

The butterfly was then stamped on the panel with a waterproof ink and painted it with a yellow Inktense Pencil. Using some green Distress Oxide Inks, I sponged Flowing Drops Stencil from A Colorful Life onto some areas in the background.

Using the TJ Stamp "Faint Scratches" , with the same waterproof ink I used to stamp the butterfly, I stamped it around the background for another layer and more texture and dimension.

The sentiment "One Must Live" was also stamped in the same waterproof ink.

For final details, I painted Shimmering Bliss "Harvest Sunset" on the inside of the butterfly's wings....I just loved this look, and made little dots with my white gel pen.

All the products I have listed and linked here can be purchased at a full 10% discount by using my personal code TJ10CHERI.  In fact, that discount code can be used on all stamps in the store and some supplies.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you found some creative inspiration while you were here.

PRETTY POTS Y'ALL

Hey ya'll!!!

Did you see this new stamp from Technique Junkies Stamps call "Pretty Pots"?  I'm so loving this release...

The pots and flowers were colored with Chameleon Colortone Pencils and I sponged "worn lipstick" Distress Ink through a stencil from A Colorful Life called "Square Fade".  The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark embossing ink and heat embossed with white ep, and it's from the "Butter My Butt" set.  (Such a fun sentiment stamp set).

Get all your Technique Junkies Stamps and some supplies for a full 10% off by using my discount code TJ10CHERI.  I'm a happy enabler!

Stamps used for this card - Floral Mermaid (designed by Rita Barakat), Seashell Borders Set of 2 and Sunflower Sentiments Set of 2 (from the June 2018 release - this is available at 10% off using my discount code TJ10Cheri).  After stamping and coloring the mermaid I made a mask for her.  The background was created by masking and sponging the area around the mermaid creating a light ray with Distress Oxide Inks.  After removing the light ray mask (keeping the mermaid mask in place) I then sponged more ink through a stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called "Double Scales".  Copic Markers were used for coloring.

This card uses "Octopus Face" - I love this stamp.  It makes me laugh.  'Nough said!  Stamped, masked and sponged - done!

Using "Sailing Ship Collage" I wanted to try a fabulous technique called Gel Plate Impressionism by Lydia Fielder .  I didn't get the same results when I stamped the bg, so I just went as far as the bg creation and stamped the image with black dye ink directly onto the bg (not using the gel plate). I loved how it turned out.  I'll keep practicing, it's a fun technique.  To add a touch of dimension to the layer, I added some Glossy Accents to the compass and then a patina bead in the center.

Thanks for stopping by....now head on over to Stephanie's blog.  She's another incredibly talented card maker (I'm surrounded by them on this team) and you will love what she has to show you.

Don't forget to grab the JULY RELEASE STAMPS you'd like before July 8th for a 15% discount.  All other stamps (including Ken Oliver Color Bust Powders) can be purchased for a 10% discount by using my discount code.

One of my most favorite stamp from this release is "Side Hat".  I stamped her in red dye ink and she pairs perfectly with "Audacity", don't you think?  There is also a matching stencil from "A Colorful Life" Stencils.  How cool is that?

What a fun stamp "Screaming Calories" is.  This is one of those stamps that should be in everyone's collection.  A card made with this stamp will lighten and brighten anyone's day. I did some masking and sponging to achieve the "spotlight" effect.  The piggy was colored with Copic Markers.

"City Watercolor" is a fabulous stamp.  Incredibly versatile and fun to play with.  I used Ken Oliver Color Burst pigment powders from the "earthtone" collection to create my background.  I also subtly inked, in black dye ink, the fabulous "Cloud Lattice" stencil from "A Colorful Life" in the background.  The "stars" were added with the gold Glitter Marker from Nuvo from the "Ember Glo" collection.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you found some inspiration here.

Your next stop on the hop is the blog of another incredibly talented member of the design team, Stephanie Severin.  Her creations will blow you away!

HATS OFF TO DAD

Hellooooo Junkies!!!!!

This Sunday we'll be celebrating Father's Day here in the States.  There are some really great male stamps in the store at Technique Junkies and today I'm playing with one of the most recent ones called "Hats Off to Dad" from the May release.

Truth be told...this set doesn't just cover Father's Day, it could be a birthday, or any occasion where you might want to honor a father.  Let your imagination go wild.  It's really a fun set. I did some surgery on the set I have and cut all the hats off into individual pieces.  I can always reassemble them if I want to, but I like the idea that I can use these hats in many other ways individually.

In addition to the Hat's Off set on this card, I used a cool stencil from A Colorful Life Stencils called "City Windows".  I placed the stencil on a white cs layer and sponged Distress Inks.  First, Fresh Squeezed Lemon and then on just the base of the "windows",  Mustard Seed for some shadow and contrast.  I then stamped each hat in one of the windows with Archival black ink.  For additional detail I added little "stitch" marks around each one with my ultra-fine Sharpie black pen.  Finally, I added some sparkle with my Wink of Stella pen to each hat.  The sentiment, stamped with Archival black and heat embossed with clear ep, was die cut with a rectangle die and frame set.

For this card, I also used "Here We Go Round in Circles" to build my bg.  I used a variety of colored dye inks I have for the colored dots.  After stamping the hats "floating" with Archival black in, I sprinkled clear ep over them and heat embossed.  Giving them a little added dimension.  The sentiment was also stamped and heat embossed the same way.  I cut a piece of dp, to accent the die fin cut over the sentiment piece, and, I added faux stitching in both white and black along the edges.

So, that's it for me today.  I hope you find some inspiration and get your craft on....it's fun there!

REMINDER:  I have a coupon for you if you'd like to get a 10% discount on all TJ stamps (excluding the June release stamps).  Just use it at check out and enjoy your purchase.
