It's a Maine Thing

Hi there blogger friends!
Thanks so much for stopping by and checking things out with the Stamp'n Boomer.

Ever on the look out for challenges and fun things to create, I saw the latest challenge over at Crazy 4 Challenges and immediately thought about this new stamp I just got from my LSS.  The challenge #C4C102 is to  create a masculine project/card.  Nearly everyone knows about or has heard about 'Bean Boots", well, I couldn't resist this stamp....I've been wearing their boots for over 40 years....because when you wear them out (and it takes a long time), you just return them and they replace them (no charge)!  Google them and read the story it's truly fascinating.

So, here's my card....bg is a technique called "Faux Barn Wood" I got from my Technique Junkies February/March 2011 Newsletter.   I used Copic Markers to color the boots (sorry, I didn't write the #s down), I layered them against a piece of CS embossed with a Sizzix EF.  The LLBean tag came from a product tag on a purchase I made.  I cut out the boots and popped them up with pop dots.  I put 3D Crystal Lacquer on the base of the boot to replicate the authentic look of the LLBean boot.  The inside sentiment reads "Wherever you go, go with all your heart".   The stamp is from Silver Fox Stamps and More.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Cheri
Note:  I sent my card to Silver Fox Stamps and More and Sheila (co-owner) pointed out that the boots were not actually Bean boots, as LLBean has a distinctive sole and this is not it.  Silver Fox Stamps and More calls these boots "Outdoor Boots".   My apologize to everyone for the mis-lead, I should have looked at my boots, I would have seen the difference.  Never-the-less, I hope you will check out their website....they have some fabulous rubber.
