WHAT IF? WEDNESDAY AT THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Happy hump day, everyone!

It's inspirational challenge time at The House That Stamps Built.  With this challenge, we're given a photo to interpret into a card.

Here's the inspiration

I love how the light shows through the shadows and was inspired by that when I made my card.

Stamps used on this card are RI#4505-I "Fairy Kisses", #3919-F " My Best Bud", #2719-K "Large Pine Tree", #1708-G "Fern", #2708-M "Pine Branch".  I used an assortment of brown and black ink as well as splatters of gold spray mist.  The fairy image was colored using Copic Markers.

Head on over to THE HOUSE and get the details on how to enter the challenge and learn about the $25.00 gift certificate for your choice of incredible RI Stamps that you could win.

My team mates have some incredible cards delivering more inspiration for this challenge.  Pay a visit and see their incredible work.

DESIGNER'S CHOICE CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Hi there blog friends!

It's challenge time again at The House That Stamps Built and this week it's a designer's choice challenge and the designer challenging us is the super talented Rock Star, Deonna Bemish.  Deonna's challenge is "Falling into Fall".

It's always sad to see summer leaving, knowing that winter isn't far away....but the fall season is so colorful and spectacular that it's something to look forward to.

I've been having some fun lately using some color powders called Brusho's.  Repeat Impressions as them in stock and they are really a blast to play with.  The backgrounds you can create with these powders is limitless and each and every one is completely different.  The background of the focal image on my card was made with Brusho's.

For this card I used RI stamp #1609-J "Winter Tree" , RI#3406-C "Random Leaves" and RI#9103-G "Love Is in the Air".  I masked the word "love" and hand wrote "fall" in it's place after stamping.

I hope you'll join Deonna's challenge this week and have some fun falling into fall.

Great inspiration for this challenge can be seen at the blogs of these amazing Rock Stars:

COLOR CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Hello blog friends!

It's another What If? Wednesday challenge at The House That Stamps Built and this week it's a color challenge.

Each Wednesday, there's a new challenge and another opportunity to win a $25.00 gift certificate for some incredible Repeat Impression Stamps.  Entering is easy and if you use an RI stamp on your entry, you'll get two entries.  So please join us for each week's challenge.

Here's the color challenge this week.

Here is my card using these colors

I created my card using two RI Stamps RI#4313-K "Sunflower" and #1112-E "Just a Note".  For the focal image I sponged the bg with DI then stamped and masked the sunflower and stamped it 3x.  I colored the flowers using my new acrylic art pens (love them).  Fun and easy card.

Check out the other Rock Stars for some incredible inspiration

PROJECT OF THE WEEK FOR THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Hi there, everyone!  Cheri here with a project of the week for you to try it's called "Delft Tiles".

I thought I'd show you an older technique but always fun and easy to do.  You may have seen several ways to do this technique, most use a scoring application on a separate layer.  The way I'm showing you gives you the option of using square dies or punches you may have.  This option also gives you the versatility of using the die cut pieces to arrange as you'd like to on your card base.

Here are the supplies you'll need:

Blue dye ink (I used Distress Ink "Blueprint Sketch"
Clear embossing ink (I used VersaMark)
Clear embossing powder
A square or die punch (I used the 1 1/4 " die and also, but not shown, I used the 1 5/8", from the Repeat Impressions Flip Stitch Die Set)
An open line rubber stamp of your choice.  You'll note that I have two stamps showing, however I only used RI #4314-K "Flowering Vine".
A layer of white card stock large enough to cut out the amount of layers you need.  Mine measured 4.25x5.50.

Step one:  With your inked up stamp, stamp your image on the white card stock panel.

Step 2:  Make sure your panel is completely dry then take your embossing ink pad and swipe it all over the panel.  Cover the panel completely with clear embossing ink.  Once covered, sprinkle the clear embossing power all over the panel and heat set with a heat gun.

Step 3:  Once cool, repeat the process, adding another layer of embossing ink and embossing powder.  The second layer produces an almost "fine china" effect.  You can add a third coat of the ink and powder if you feel your surface isn't smooth enough.

Step 4:  Once your panel is cool and as you want/like it, take it to your die cutting machine along with the die and cut it into squares, as you see here.

Finally, assemble your card as you like.  The sentiment I used in this card is from the vertical collection, RI#6103-J "Thinking of You".  I also sponged the edges of each panel with the ink, before adhering it to the larger die cut to give it a porcelain look.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you'll give this technique a try.  I think you'll really like the effect you get.

ART JOURNAL

Hello everyone!

I'm stepping out of my oh, so comfy, comfort zone these days and playing more and more with all sorts of inks and media and having a messy blast with it too.

I started making an art journal, inspired by so many I've seen on the Internet, and wanted to share my first page (ever) with you.  Let me know what you think.

I'm also entering it in the Stamplorations Mixed Media ARTplorations challenge for August 2015 "Use a Stencil".  This is a challenge for anything but a card.

I wish the photo was better.  It was difficult to get a good picture as it's the first page in the new journal and it doesn't want to lay flat.  The stencil I used on this page was Tim Holtz "Burlap".

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll leave me a comment about my first art journal page!
