CAS NON TRADITIONAL HOLIDAY COLOR CHALLENGE AT OUTLAWZ

Greetings, blog friend!!!

I hope you've all had a fabulously creative week!!  Are you looking for a new challenge that really stretches your creative juices?  If so, check out the new challenge at Outlawz CAS challenge this week.  Linda Anderson is the hostess and here is her challenge:

Being the rebel that I am, my challenge this week is two part. First, create a holiday card, any holiday will do. Second, make it in non-traditional colors. As always, it must be CAS, but let's see a Valentine with no red or St. Patrick's without green. And now you're talking if you go with Christmas NOT in red and green! Have fun and let's get creative.

This one really got me.  I had been making Christmas cards for nearly 2 months or more and had put all my Christmas stamps away and was ready to move on to spring, when Linda's challenge came.  I forced myself not to get the Christmas stamps out again but rather try something different.  I went to my best source of inspiration, "Pinterest" (how did we ever live without Pinterest?) and in the process of sucking up time perusing, I found a link to painted eggs and this one inspired me

Here's my interpretation of this image

The "egg" was created using an Irish Folding aperture I had.  I simply traced it onto my card stock.  I used the masking technique to build the floral background with stamps and a variety of inks and Copic Markers to color the flowers.  Once the egg was colored and completely dry,  I "painted" it with a clear Wink of Stella pen.  I then inked the whole thing in VersaMark Ink and sprinkled clear embossing powder over it and heat embossed it.  I loved the results.  You may not be able to see it here, but there's a subtle sparkle behind a gorgeous gloss which the embossing powder created.  I then mounted a black die cut panel behind it and popped it up with dimensionals.  The stamps I used are Hennah Elements by Alte&New and the sentiment is from a retired GKD set by Rupa Shevde "Easter Blessings".

I hope to see you at the CAS challenge this week, there's a chance to win a $10.00 gift certificate to a craft store of your choice.

Have a creative week and thanks so much for stopping by.

DESIGNER'S CHOICE CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE

Hi there blog friends!

The new Designer's Choice Challenge at The House That Stamps Built is hosted by Deonna this week.  Her challenge is monochromatic using brown, white, black.

The stamps I used for this card are RI#4314-K "Flowering Vine" and RI#6103-J "Thinking Vertical".  I first embossed the flowering vine image on black card stock with white pigment ink and clear embossing powder and then cut them into inch size squares and mounted them on brown cs.  I added little white dots with my white gel pen in order to give the image interest and dimension.  I used a punch to create the edging and added the white gel dots to the edge of that too.  The sentiment was also stamped in white pigment ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I used a CuttleBug embossing folder for some back ground texture and more dimension.

I hope you'll come over and join the challenge, you can get all the detail at The House.

This week we're welcoming two new Rock Stars to the team, Kathy Stacy and Debbie Fisher.  Super talented ladies.  Check out all the Rock Stars and help us welcome Kathy and Debbie.

NEW COLOR CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Hi blog friends!!!

There are some changes in challenges coming over at The House That Stamps Built and I think you're going to love them.

Wednesdays there will be either a sketch challenge, a color challenge a designer's choice challenge or a photo inspiration challenge.  Mondays will still be the Project of the Week hosted by a Rock Star.  So stay with us for some great challenges and lots of fun and join in.  You could win some awesome Repeat Impression Stamps if you're picked as a winner in the card entries.  All the details will be posted at The House for each challenge.

This week is our first color challenge and the colors are blue, silver, white.

I had such fun creating this card for the challenge.  Repeat Impressions has so many fantastic critter stamps and this is one of my faves.

I used a few strips of Washi tape for layers of "mattresses" for this cute guy.  I heat embossed the sentiment RI # 423-G "May All Your Dreams", with JudiKins "Detail Silver" ep after stamping it with VersaMark Ink.  The Cat image RI #6220-L "Comfy Cat" was stamped using Memento Ink and then colored with Copic Markers.  I fussy cut him out and popped him up on dimensional tape.  For a finishing touch I added some silver sequins, a few blue "Metallic Inspirations" I got from Creative Inspirations Paint and touches of silver Viva Glitter Pen.

I hope you'll come on over and play along with the new color challenge.  In the meantime, for some incredible eye candy for this challenge, check out the Rock Stars

USING WASHI TAPE CLEAN AND SIMPLE

Hi there blog friends!!!!

I hope you've had a great start to the new year.

There's a new clean and simple challenge being offered at Outlawz Challenges.  It's easy and a lot of fun!

Washi Tape has popped into our lives and is being used in numerous ways from brightening switch covers and electrical wire to jazzing up your cellphone cover.  This week's challenge is to use washi tape on your card or project.

So dig out that Washi tape (or make some) and come on over and play along with us.

Stamps:  "Whale You Be Mine" by Lawn Fawn.  The Washi tape bg was cut strips from two "shape'n tape" collections by We R Memory Keepers (one yellow, one black), which can be purchased in many places, including Amazon.  The floral strip of Washi tape is one I picked up in a discount bin some where (not sure where).  The whales were colored with Copic Markers.  The tiny felt heart was punched.  Also used: Spellbinder Labels 22.

Come on over and play along with this fun challenge.

I'm entering this card in CAS-ual Fridays Challenge CFC 135 Use felt and sequins

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a fabulous week!
