WHAT IF? WEDNESDAY AT REPEAT IMPRESSIONS

Hi blog friends!!!

Christmas is getting closer and the days are filling up with exciting moments and events.

It's What If? Wednesday at Repeat Impressions again and guess what?????  Wendy has a new and fun sketch for us to play with.  I hope you'll find some time from all the hustle and bustle to come on over to The House That Stamps Built and play along with us.  We'll be waiting to see what you create.  Link on over and get the details on how to WIN $25.00 worth of awesome RI stamps (of your choice).

Here's this week's sketch

Here's my card

My inspiration for this card came on Sunday, December 7  the 72nd anniversary of Pearl Harbor.  My father was a Pearl Harbor survivor.  He was in the Army Air Corp (later becoming the Air Force) and was one of those who were assigned the morbid task of "collecting the dead" from the ocean after the attack.  He was barely 20 years old.  That's mostly all I know....all he shared about that day.  For whatever reason, those hours stayed within him for over 50 years until his death in 1994.  I have no one in mind for this card, its one of those that came from "within" and before I knew it, it was done.

Stamps I used for this card are RI #2704-H and RI #5140-C

Thank you so much for stopping by.

CLEAN AND SIMPLE CHALLENGE AT OUTLAWZ

Hello blog friends!!!

The holidays are fast approaching and my goal this year is to be ready!  Last year I was pitifully behind in everything and it disappointed me - although I have to admit...the sky didn't fall and life went on....go figure.  That said, I'm sticking with my goal this year.  :)

There's a new posting at Outlawz Sunday CAS challenge - It's Cara's turn and she is challenging us to incorporate a poinsettia in our cards.  Here's her complete challenge:

December is a time of celebration. It is the one time of year that many people are able to set aside obligation and reunite with love ones and friends! It is also a time when Poinsettias (my favorite flower) are out in abundance! It derives its name from Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first United States Minister to Mexico, who introduced the plant into the United States in 1825.

The Theme for this week is poinsettias ... can be a stamp, sticker or die cut and any color is acceptable - just keep it CAS!

My card uses an assortment of punches, dies and paper scraps.  The poinsettia is a stamp from a local stamp store that is now closed.  They had an incredible artist who would design gorgeous rubber stamps and this poinsettia is one of hers.  I stamped it with VersaMark on vellum, then heat embossed it with gold ep then fussy cut it.  On the reverse, I "painted" the deep red color with two Copic Markers

If any of you are interested in being a guest designer for Outlawz, CAS challenge group, please leave me a message here, with a link to your blog or online gallery, and I will forward it to our group leader.  We are actively looking for someone to feature their CAS cards with us for coming year.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a GREAT week!!!!

WHAT IF? WEDNESDAY AT REPEAT IMPRESSIONS

Hi blog friends!!

Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you who are celebrating this American holiday.  I hope you're all gathering with family, friends or people you don't know to join in thanksgiving for blessings known and unknown.

It's What If? Wednesday time at Repeat Impressions and Wendy has quite a sketch for us this time.

Awesome sketch - and fun to interpret.  I took some license here and enjoyed the results.

I hope you can see the sketch in this card.  I used some awesome paper by American Crafts called "Peppermint Express".  I couldn't resist.
Stamps:  RI # 413-H "Let Heaven" and as you can see, there's "stretch" in the sketch....but that's what makes these sketches so much fun....you can find a way to interpret them.

We hope you'll come over to The House That Stamps Built and join the WIW challenge.  While you're there,  check out Joy's Project of the Week (so very cool).

For some incredible inspiration please visit my awesome Rock Star Teamies.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I wish you all a blessed Thanksgiving Day.

WEEKLY CAS CHALLENGE AT OUTLAWZ

Happy Sunday, blog friends!!!

There's a new challenge over at Outlawz Challenges and today's challenge is from Linda Anderson.  Here it is.

"It Was All Started by a Mouse" - This is part of a quote by Walt Disney. I have a quick trip to Disney World planned for this week with my son...I'm so excited!!! So of course, this challenge is dedicated to the man himself, Mickey Mouse. This week's challenge is to create a CAS card using a mouse. Any theme will do, as long as there's a mouse.

It's a fun challenge, so I hope you'll have an opportunity to play along.  There are challenges for every day of the week at Outlawz Challenges which is a free membership site and there are tons of prizes to be won each and every week.
Stamps:  Repeat Impressions #910-E "Mouse and Cheese" and for the sentiment I used a PTI set "Handwritten Notes".
Papers:  GKD Pure Luxury "White", "Black Onyx", "Red Hot" and "Sweet Corn".
To make the "cheese", I took scraps of the "Sweet Corn" cs and using my "Crop a Dile", I made random holes.  I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark and then heat embossed it wth white ep so it would pop off the page.  Copic Markers were used for coloring the mouse and cheese.

Thank you so much for stopping by.
I hope you all have a fabulous week ahead and if you celebrate Thanksgiving, have a happy Thanksgiving Day.
