PROJECT OF THE WEEK FOR REPEAT IMPRESSION STAMPS
Hi everyone!
Today is my turn at "Project of the Week" for The House That Stamps Built and I'm excited to share with you a fun and easy ink technique I'm calling "white pigment ink resist".
There are many "resist" techniques, most of which use a clear embossing ink such as VersaMark, but today we're going to change up and use white pigment ink.
Here are the supplies you'll need.
- White or neutral colored card stock (I used Sand Beach from GKD)
- White pigment ink (I used Hero Arts)
- Clear detail embossing powder
- Heat tool
- Dye inks for coloring
- Sponges or finger dabbers
- Paper towel for removing the excess ink and last but not least
- A negative-style stamp
1. Stamp your image on your neutral card stock using the white pigment ink. Be sure your ink is fairly juicy so that you can get a good even covering of the stamp.
2. Cover the stamping with the clear embossing powder and heat set it with your heat tool.
IMPORTANT - Be sure you melted all of the embossing powder over the image. This could be a little difficult to see so look at it carefully before you begin the next step and make sure it is all embossed.
3. Using your sponge or finger dabbers and your dye inks, begin "coloring" the areas with the colors you've chosen.
4. Once you have all the areas colored in, begin to remove the excess ink with your clean paper towel.
5. Your resist will appear as you clean the surface of your layer. Your image is now ready for mounting on a base layer.
Here is my final project using this technique.
The stamps I used for this card are RI# 5906-M "Forest Negative" and for the sentiment I used a portion of RI#2501-H "Happy Birthday from..." (I cut the stamp in two and can easily put the two pieces back in place when I want to use it as a whole).
Wasn't that easy? I hope you'll give it a try and if you do, we'd love it if you would let us know.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous week!
