HATS OFF TO DAD

Hellooooo Junkies!!!!!

This Sunday we'll be celebrating Father's Day here in the States.  There are some really great male stamps in the store at Technique Junkies and today I'm playing with one of the most recent ones called "Hats Off to Dad" from the May release.

Truth be told...this set doesn't just cover Father's Day, it could be a birthday, or any occasion where you might want to honor a father.  Let your imagination go wild.  It's really a fun set. I did some surgery on the set I have and cut all the hats off into individual pieces.  I can always reassemble them if I want to, but I like the idea that I can use these hats in many other ways individually.

In addition to the Hat's Off set on this card, I used a cool stencil from A Colorful Life Stencils called "City Windows".  I placed the stencil on a white cs layer and sponged Distress Inks.  First, Fresh Squeezed Lemon and then on just the base of the "windows",  Mustard Seed for some shadow and contrast.  I then stamped each hat in one of the windows with Archival black ink.  For additional detail I added little "stitch" marks around each one with my ultra-fine Sharpie black pen.  Finally, I added some sparkle with my Wink of Stella pen to each hat.  The sentiment, stamped with Archival black and heat embossed with clear ep, was die cut with a rectangle die and frame set.

For this card, I also used "Here We Go Round in Circles" to build my bg.  I used a variety of colored dye inks I have for the colored dots.  After stamping the hats "floating" with Archival black in, I sprinkled clear ep over them and heat embossed.  Giving them a little added dimension.  The sentiment was also stamped and heat embossed the same way.  I cut a piece of dp, to accent the die fin cut over the sentiment piece, and, I added faux stitching in both white and black along the edges.

So, that's it for me today.  I hope you find some inspiration and get your craft on....it's fun there!

JUNE 2017 DESIGNER'S CHOICE CHALLENGE AT THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT

Greetings House guests,

It's June (already)...we're half-way though the year 2017 and over at The House That Stamps Built, there's a new challenge.

It's Designer's Choice and this month, Donna is the designer who makes the choice and she is challenging us to use Washi tape on our projects.

I used RI stamps #919-I "Irish Window" and the sentiment is #9717-C "Happy Hello".

The iris in my garden are in full bloom and they are so beauitful.  We've had nothing but rain for weeks...rarely a day of sunshine, yet somehow the iris are luminous and blooming.  What a sight to see in the early morning light.

I colored the iris with my Chameleon Colortone Pencils.  I absolutely LOVE using them.  My washi tape is simply placed as a focal image bg.  I added some gold thread behind the image for texture and accent as well as a few sequins.

Come on over to The House and join in on Donna's challenge.  All the details can be found there.

For even more incredible DCC challenge inspiration take a look at what these awesome ladies have created.

MY HOPE FLIES ON WINGS OF POSSIBILITES

Hello Junkies!!!

I've got a quick post for you today combining two (I think) gorgeous and compatiable TJ stamps.

Watercolor Hummingbird is brand new!  It's from our recent June New Stamp Release and if you'd like to have it in your collection, you can get it, and all the new June Stamps, for a great discount of 15% off until June 8.  (There are only TWO days left to get the discount). You don't even need a coupon code...just put the new stamps in your cart and the discount is automatically applied.  Easy peasy.

The sentiment stamp I combined with "Watercolor Hummingbird" is "Wings of Possibility".   I'm in love with that script writing and the sentiment.

Here's how I created the card:  Using my MISTI, I stamped each stamp on a watercolor paper panel in Archival black ink.  I then taped off the outside borders with painter's tape in a diagonal.  In the exposed area around the images I used my Koi watercolor to paint the background.  After drying the panel, I flicked a little black acrylic paint mixed with water across the panel before taking the tape off.  For a little added dimension I added some black Ranger Enamel Accents.

Now, here's a good deal too....if you'd like any TJ Stamps from the store, (excluding the new June Release Stamps) and would like a discount on those....just use my personal discount code TJ10CHERI and shop away.

Okay...that's it for me today.  Have you stopped by the TJ FaceBook page?  You can find some creativness there as well as learn what's going on with the Junkies and get the latest information on the new challenge.  It's all there, so come on over and check it out.

Thanks so much for stopping by...I hope you found some inspiration while you were here.

Hey there, Junkies....It's the first of the month and once again time for an exciting new stamp release blog hop from Technique Junkies!!!!

And...if you like the stamps you see in this release, head on over to the Technique Junkies store and pick them all up.  Pat is offering a generous 15% off all the June Release Stamps -  but only until June 8.   Here's the entire June Release.

So, here we go....

Here are three cards I created with some of the new stamps.

If you have a golfer in your life, and so many of us do...."Let's Play A Round" stamp set is a must have for your collection.  There are 5 stamps in the whole collection. (Don't you love that title and the play on words...it made me laugh).  To create this card, I first started on the background by sponging Distress Inks on one of the fabulous "A Colorful Life Stencils" called "Square Perspective".   I then trimmed down the layer and matted it onto black cs.  Using my MISITI, I stamped the golfer with VersaFine Black Ink several times.  I wanted to get a great coverage.  I then fussy cut him out.  The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark and white heat embossed on a black panel of cs.  I used dimensional tape on the back of the sentiment to place it on the card panel and for additional fun, I added a wobble to the back of the golfer.  He really swings!

Two fabulous new stamps are used on this shaker card.  The backgrounds were done using "Sudsy Stuff".  The front layer was first stamped with VersaMark and then heat embossed with clear ep.  It gives such a lovely texture and beautiful sudsy look.  It was used again behind the seahorses stamped with white pigment ink.  The seahorses and sentiment come from "Seahorses Set of 4".  They were stamped with Memento "Potter's Clay" ink.  I heat embossed the sentiment onto acrylic with white ep.  The acrylic is created for heat embossing.

My final card uses "Mermaid on Rock" and "Wild Sea Air".  This card was created by first stamping the image on a white cs panel.  I then cut her out as a mask and masked her.  I also made some masks with post it notes and masked off a horizon and some rocks.  I used Distress Inks to sponge in the scene. The mermaid was colored with Copic Markers and the sentiment was stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with white ep.

IF you'd like some more shopping discount fun...you can purchase all other TJ stamps and receive a 10% discount on your entire order (other than the new June stamps) by entering my code TJ10Cheri in the "discount code" area at check out.
